Friars/Presidio at Riverwalk Golf Club

Go elsewhere. $80 round that would have taken 6+ hrs if we didn’t quit after hole 14 due to slow pace of play. As we drove our way thru the last few holes, it was clear a group of college bro’s were holding up the line, shotgunning beers and cranking music with no one actually hitting on the tee box and no groups in front of them. Course badly needs at least one staff member driving around pushing these types of groups. Course also looks very thirsty. Bald spots everywhere. Greens were ok to be fair. All this for the price of what it costs to play Torrey.

This place has constantly been poorly run…and still is…

Enjoyed the day. The pace was outstanding. The Marshall patrolling the course was super. He helped locate a foldable chair we left somewhere along the course.

I like the layout of the course with some fun challenges. The greens are in pretty good shape.

Overall, enjoyable round. 4:10h round, with a couple of short waits due to the group ahead. Tee boxes and fairways weren’t in great shape. patchy areas on fairway, but overall not too bad (ie no “dirt”). Greens in very good condition - true roll. Bunkers in poor condition. Layout on the front nine is better / more interesting. But overall decent design.

Course conditions were horrific! No difference between fairway, rough, or a dirt track. Found out the course has been sold and will be turned into a new transit village with 4300 homes starting this year. They should tell you they’re not maintaining it any longer, instead of taking your money. Dead Trees and shrubs, no fairway, greens hit or miss grass. Yuck! Embarrassed I brought friends!!

Riverwalk could be a fantastic course however at this time most of the fairways were being worked on. Lots of bare area's. Could see the workers attempting to work on all parts of the course. The greens were exceptionallly smooth and soft, best part of the course. I would play it again and probably walk it next time, save $15.00.

Haven't played this course in a while but thoughly enjoyed my round today. Beautyful course. Relatively flat. Easy to walk. 6 out of 10 for difficulty. Few forced carries of length. Greens in great shape. Breezy as usual. Staff very accomodating. Driving range mats very new looking but there were few markers for distances over 80 yards. Tee times readily available on GolfNow.

Not a bad layout but overall id say its overpriced as its really nothing special as a course. Greens were pretty dry so they played very fast.
