Cimarron Golf Club - Boulder Course

A group of 8 was allowed to play together 4 and a half hours later we had played 14 holes when it became too dark to continue. No one hurried them along. Painfully slow

Went with a total of 6, started as 3 & 3 but of course all ended up playing together. No problem as we didn’t slow the play behind us. The course is very nice, well maintained and the staff is really friendly. Looking forward to playing there again.

We liked the course. not too difficult. It was windy and slow, but we were paired with a nice couple and we enjoyed playing with them.

course was in great condtion, staff were great, weather became an issue as a big sand storm blew into the valley so we had to bail after 14 holes

Decent condition, the greens rolled fairly well and the whole place is green. Nowhere near as nice as nearby courses that cost the same. Zero water on the course and two porta potties is absurd when you’re paying $120 for a round of golf.

Very nice staff and layout. Forgiving yet if you took the bait it but you. ( there was some washout from recent storms but still very playable) . The round was slow waiting at almost every hole . But was accepted as it was a Sunday.

Really disappointed. We get to the course only to find out the course was backed up 1 hour. They blamed it on a tournament, that pushed back tee times 1 hour. People coming off Boulder course complained the round well over 5 hours. Therefore, we ended up playing the short Pebble Course instead. Course in good condition but even that course had wait on every hole. Took way too long. It seems they simply do not manage their play effectively.

A tournament was booked for Saturday morning, pushing our tee time back by 40 minutes sccorfing to the starter. Opted for lunch during the wait. Average service, but good food in a timely manner.

On the first tee we met our partners, one of which had never played golf. Really. Crazy round that was very slow, not from our amateur friend but groups ahead.

Overall the course was a nice shape, good layout, but they can’t seem to manage the pace of play.

Poor player management — way too many people on the course every tee box was backed up be 2 groups. I wish they would have gave me the option to not play that day . I love this course but could only play 12 holes because of poor tee time management. I do not appreciate paying a premium and not being able to complete the round

Okay experience with the exception of surly staff.

We teed off 20 minutes late because the first tee was so backed up. Then waited on every shot throughout the rest of the afternoon. Fun course, well kept too! It just was so slow and no marshalls around to keep things going.

Staff:

The pro shop staff were extremely unfriendly and h helpful. When asked where the range was I was told to “go outside and I’ll see it”. I didn’t. It was my first time there and the range is not near the Pro shop.

The starter was extremely rude. We were putting right next to our tee 5 minutes before our tee time when he began yelling our names. We walked over to him and he said we are supposed to be in our carts and ready to off 5 minutes before hand. Mind you, the group ahead of us were all taking 2-3 off the tee and we’re still on the tee box.

The grounds crew doesn’t care if you’re putting, approaching. or driving. The worst one was on hold 5 where the man mowing the grass literally mowed the fringe of the green we were putting on blowing grass right into us, causing us both to have an allergy attack.

Pace of play:

Plan for a 5-6 hour round. There’s no marshall to keep people moving and they well over-sell their tee times. I knew it was busy, but when we finally finished our seemingly never ending round there was no less than 50 people waiting on a cart so they could play.

Conditions:

The course looks phenomenal. Very green. Nice fairways and nice greens. Greens are slow, but not soft. Bunkers are not sand. It’s essentially just gravel with large rocks all throughout it and the lips are either dead or dying.

Amenities:

The range was like hitting off of the second cut and the balls were horribly overused. No bathrooms on the course - just port-o-potty’s. Yep. In the desert. And they absolutely smell as bad you imagine.

All in all, I paid $140 to play here and was highly dissatisfied the course is worth about $40. I played the far superior Escena Golf Club the day before for the same price.

Save your money and time. Find a better course.
