Cimarron's Boulder course is desert in location, but almost links in feel. It's hard to imagine even the most beer-cart-fueled hacker thinking they're in Scotland. Considering the bright sun, the striking San Jacinto Mountains and all. But …

"We've had many golfers tell us it reminds them of the British Open," head pro Jason Janke said. "For what we have in the desert, this is probably the closest course to that."

At 6,782 yards from the back tees, Cimarron challenges with length and accuracy. It's wise to keep your ball in the fairway here or you'll get some up-close desert views. Still with three par 4s over 450 yards and two par 5s over 560 yards, bombing away with your driver is anything but completely ignored.

Decent regulation & par 3 courses

Boulder Course as with the rest of the course has almost zero trees. But lots & lots

of bushes that'll rob you of your golf balls. Then you will find all kinds of balls

while looking for your ball in the wash lol.

Every time you find some kind of groove. It all comes to grinding halt from the

slow play. The day I went there was a long, long wait to get a golfcart.

Pebble Course is a challenging par 3 lay-out very similar to the Boulder Course.

Haven't had the same logjam of players on the par 3 whenever I've gone.

Worst golf experience in Coachella Valley

We have been coming to Palm Desert for over 25 years each winter, and love it here and have never had such a horrible experience. The course condition and layout is decent ,other than many holes you have to park far away from greens which slows play. Not having proper bathrooms, and only porta potties for the price is unacceptable and no water when it is 90 degree weather and using Covid as an excuse, is terrible. Every other course provides water. The worst part is there is no Marshall and we had a group of drunk guys in front of us, who took 25 minutes to finish a par 3 causing an exceptional backup. When my husband called clubhouse , about situation they said they would send someone out which they did not. We quit, because of this group holding us up, and being drunk carrying they’re beer cans onto green. I went into the pro shop and complained to the fellow working and he had no answers other than to say they have no staff. I did say if those guys get behind the wheel of a car and caused an accident because of being sold too much alcohol, they would be responsible, and he refused that theory. Very disappointed. Only golf there if you are desperate.

Spectacular views.

I love this course and play it every year when we come here. However, there is always a cart problem, which is a negative.

Windy but worth it

Cimarron is open and exposed to the wind but is a fair test of golf. No gimmicky holes at all. Very enjoyable!

Nice course, nice layout, but need the beverage cart in the afternoon warmth. Also need decent sand in the traps. Some be played as ground under repair!

Great Value

This course has great value. Very reasonable green fees and good access to tee times. The course is great shape and well designed for moderate golfers, particularly couple with wide open fairways, but challenging layout. Pace of play was slow. No water on course, nor beverage cart. The club house is not conveniently located when making the turn, but this is a course my wife and I will continue to play each time we’re in the Valley.

Loved it

I played here with my wife and we really liked the course. Very well kept. Good pace of play it took 4hrs to play 18. We played on a Saturday morning and didn’t get paired with anyone else which was nice. The layout was well done. Greens were quick and well kept. Tee boxes could of been cut a little shorter but otherwise no complaints. Great price for what you get as well

Nice bare bones golf

The golf was nice but surprisingly there is no water on the course and the clubhouse is too far from the turn to get a snack or even water without losing your place. One device cart means < 1 visit per 18. Pace of play 4 h for 18 midweek. Staff seemed overworked and curt. If I go again, I will bring my own beverages and snacks.

PARCHED

The Course Management has decided we don't need water or trash cans. If you plan to play on a HOT day, be sure to bring enough water. The excuse I was given was that the "Homeless People" steal the water jugs, therefore they have decide4d NOT to replace them after Covid.

Too bad. I like the Course when the weather is cool enough, but this will change my decision to play there.

A round with some pluses and minuses

The course was backed up when we arrived an hour early, so we had to wait around just to get our gear loaded on a cart. The starter told us that they were running 30 min behind and that was about right. There is a good driving range and large practice green. The cart has a great GPS device - which also alerts you to the pace of play (which ran about 12 min slow on the first nine but didn’t get worse on the back nine). The course is pretty basic with wide fairways on most holes; five par threes and four par fives. The 3s and 5s ran quite long even from the forward tees. Considerable washes on some holes, but they were mostly not in play. Greens were in good shape and pretty fast. No gimmicks on any holes and few holes with water in play. No drinking water on the course and restrooms were hot portajohns at two locations (negative). The Palm Springs Airport is adjacent to the course and there was a steady stream of planes coming and going throughout our round - not a problem. Much less shade than on other courses we have played here this month.

Nice course. We’ll maintained

Nice course. Seemed a bit crowded as we waited at most holes. Pace was about 4:15. Very hot and no cart service until the 15th hole.. it would be nice to have water available along the course.. a nice overall layout and in very good condition.

Got behind a out of town tournament

Course is in good condition. Fairways are in good shape. Green are tough, traps are what I expected for this course. It hard for them to keep sand in the traps with as much wind as they get. Wished marshal would have come around earlier. Slow play from hole two. Marshal showed up on hole 13 and said he just found one of the tournament groups with 3 holes open in front of them. Pace picked up on 14. GET THE MARSHAL OUT Regularly !!! 830 tee time. Finished at 1 10.
