Ever since it debuted in 2003 and started earning raves for being one of Northwest Florida's premier courses. This semi-private layout is the star amenity of an 800-acre residential development that touches Choctawhatchee Bay. Robert C. Walker, formerly the lead architect of Arnold Palmer's design company, laid out Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club amidst a nature preserve near the south shore of the bay. While you'll feel the breezes as you play this stalwart of Florida's Emerald Coast region, the water views during the round are of the wetlands, streams and manmade lakes that lend beauty and challenge to the game here. Plenty of trees, bulkheads lining the hazards and bright white sand in the predominantly shallow bunkers add extra aesthetic panache when you play at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club. With so much water and trouble all around, you'll need to execute numerous forced carries on your drives and approach shots. A couple of holes feature island-like fairways.
Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club delivers a classic brand of Florida target-style golf, though it's a challenge everyone can enjoy. Moderately skilled players will be relieved that some of the hazards and shot prospects seem more intimidating than they really are. The game at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club comes to a crescendo finish. On the tricky par-4 16th you must avoid the water on the left and the marsh that crosses the fairway. While the redesigned 17th may be a drivable par 4 for long hitters, for most players the primary task is executing a forced-carry tee shot over water that finds the fairway in a spot short of the bunkers that intercede before the green. The finishing hole at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is a reachable ball 5 that hooks around a large lake with the green tucked hard by the hazard. It's the last test of a day of golf filled with strong and intriguing holes.
The club's extensive practice facilities include a golf academy with a canopy cover and a nice clubhouse with a lakefront restaurant that's ideal for winding down after your game. It's no wonder that Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is such a popular place to play in golf-rich Destin.

Must Play!
Hands down the best course I’ve been Blessed to play in Destin. Raven is a close second. Frank is such a gem, very effective, and ensures that your tee time starts on time. Highly Recommend!

Terrible Greens
The greens had not been cut for days and I have played courses with fairways that were better than theses greens - they we letting them grow out for adoration later on the week

Beautiful course. Nice layout, friendly and helpful staff. Really nice driving range. A little more expensive than we usually play but this time it was worth it.

Fun layout, gettable
Fun course, first time playing and got a hot deal $110. Idk if I would spend up at regular price near $200 unless I was on vaca playing once. Private gate entrance upon arrival, friendly staff greeted us and brought us a cart. Checked in at the clubhouse, and were pointed in the direction of the range that was included. They had a putting green and a separate chipping area with bunkers to warm up. Highly recommend getting there early to take advantage of this, the first hole is a reachable par 5 and one of the best birdie opps. Idk if we got lucky but there was no one in front of us the entire round. Our biggest complaint was no draft beer and the greens were really shaggy. Guy we played with said these were normally the purest and fastest greens in Destin which made it even more disappointing lol. There were 2 cart girls going around pretty frequently on course. Italian wrap at the turn was bomb and refreshing. When we finished we were greeted and our clubs cleaned. Overall I’d go back, course was one of the few that didn’t have the greens and fairways punched.

Bummer
Not worth $186. For that kind of money you would expect excellent course conditions along with amenities. Greens were just OK. Fairways were just OK. Tee boxes were awful. Lots of sand and divots everywhere. Grass was so long on the tee box your ball didn’t even look like it was on a tee on some of them. For that kind of money it should have been in pristine shape. The staff was very friendly. No amenities either as fyi to others. This course should have been more in the $85 range. Disappointed.

Greens
Loved the course and staff but the greens were so slow it made the round painful!

Slow greens right now but great course
Overall, I really enjoyed the course. The staff were super helpful and nice. Course was difficult but not overwhelming for this 11 hdcp. Greens are just coming out of dormancy so they’re not mowing them short or rolling them so they were really slow. Highly recommend the course.

Nice layout
Greens were exceptionally slow — very long and grass like a thick rug. Rest of course conditions were pretty good.
Starter (Larry) was a bit over-bearing and abrasive. He assumes all are slow and novices because it is a resort course. Not the friendliest way to start the round.

Few areas that are being nursed back to good health. Usually this course is always in pristine condition but not this time.

Greens not “ pristine greens” as written in their site
Greens were overgrown which created difficulties putting. On the website the course should have indicated the greens conditions to allow players to decide if they wanted to play the course or not.
Until the greens are playable I wouldn’t recommend this course for the price.
It is a beautiful course with very friendly staff.
