Ever since it debuted in 2003 and started earning raves for being one of Northwest Florida's premier courses. This semi-private layout is the star amenity of an 800-acre residential development that touches Choctawhatchee Bay. Robert C. Walker, formerly the lead architect of Arnold Palmer's design company, laid out Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club amidst a nature preserve near the south shore of the bay. While you'll feel the breezes as you play this stalwart of Florida's Emerald Coast region, the water views during the round are of the wetlands, streams and manmade lakes that lend beauty and challenge to the game here. Plenty of trees, bulkheads lining the hazards and bright white sand in the predominantly shallow bunkers add extra aesthetic panache when you play at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club. With so much water and trouble all around, you'll need to execute numerous forced carries on your drives and approach shots. A couple of holes feature island-like fairways.

Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club delivers a classic brand of Florida target-style golf, though it's a challenge everyone can enjoy. Moderately skilled players will be relieved that some of the hazards and shot prospects seem more intimidating than they really are. The game at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club comes to a crescendo finish. On the tricky par-4 16th you must avoid the water on the left and the marsh that crosses the fairway. While the redesigned 17th may be a drivable par 4 for long hitters, for most players the primary task is executing a forced-carry tee shot over water that finds the fairway in a spot short of the bunkers that intercede before the green. The finishing hole at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is a reachable ball 5 that hooks around a large lake with the green tucked hard by the hazard. It's the last test of a day of golf filled with strong and intriguing holes.

The club's extensive practice facilities include a golf academy with a canopy cover and a nice clubhouse with a lakefront restaurant that's ideal for winding down after your game. It's no wonder that Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is such a popular place to play in golf-rich Destin.

Great Golf Day

The reception was friendly and the rate reasonable. The course is challenging and fun to play. We played with a player who frequents the course and he provided some good tips and advice. If he had not been with us we would have not scored as well because of the tricky fairways. The guys helped us with our clubs after the round and were very friendly and helpful.

Best course in Destin

This was by far the best course in Destin that I’ve played so far. The course layout is very challenging, yet still able to post a decent score. #18 is a great layout and nice finishing hole. Staff in the pro shop and the bar were very friendly! Will visit again!

Great Experience

We really enjoyed playing the course. The people were awesome from registration through to the bag boys at the end of the round. The course was challenging and we were lucky to have a playing partner who played there regularly. He told us were to hit tee shots…which was extremely helpful as some of the doglegs and slanted fairways could cause trouble with your second shots.

We recommend this course…and the club house is beautiful. We did not get to stay and eat but the dinning room looked very nice and the menu interesting. And check out the members lounge….fireplace and comfy chairs for your post round enjoyment😉

Regatta bay in Winter

The course was dormant but still in excellent condition. The greens were fast and somewhat hard to read because they had been essentially “painted”. It is a good course for all levels. Even a novice can enjoy due to wide fairways and low rough.

Top tier golf course

With covid golfers coming into the sport many courses have lacked in maintaining greens because people will willingly pay for bad greens not knowing the difference. This course is not one of those courses. Whoever is in charge is doing it right out here. Everything is well maintained. I would put these greens up against any course in the area! I’m not sure if the regular rate is worth it all the time. However, if you’re looking for something consistent, this is the course. Probably worth the $.
