Ever since it debuted in 2003 and started earning raves for being one of Northwest Florida's premier courses. This semi-private layout is the star amenity of an 800-acre residential development that touches Choctawhatchee Bay. Robert C. Walker, formerly the lead architect of Arnold Palmer's design company, laid out Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club amidst a nature preserve near the south shore of the bay. While you'll feel the breezes as you play this stalwart of Florida's Emerald Coast region, the water views during the round are of the wetlands, streams and manmade lakes that lend beauty and challenge to the game here. Plenty of trees, bulkheads lining the hazards and bright white sand in the predominantly shallow bunkers add extra aesthetic panache when you play at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club. With so much water and trouble all around, you'll need to execute numerous forced carries on your drives and approach shots. A couple of holes feature island-like fairways.

Regatta Bay Golf and Yacht Club delivers a classic brand of Florida target-style golf, though it's a challenge everyone can enjoy. Moderately skilled players will be relieved that some of the hazards and shot prospects seem more intimidating than they really are. The game at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club comes to a crescendo finish. On the tricky par-4 16th you must avoid the water on the left and the marsh that crosses the fairway. While the redesigned 17th may be a drivable par 4 for long hitters, for most players the primary task is executing a forced-carry tee shot over water that finds the fairway in a spot short of the bunkers that intercede before the green. The finishing hole at Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is a reachable ball 5 that hooks around a large lake with the green tucked hard by the hazard. It's the last test of a day of golf filled with strong and intriguing holes.

The club's extensive practice facilities include a golf academy with a canopy cover and a nice clubhouse with a lakefront restaurant that's ideal for winding down after your game. It's no wonder that Regatta Bay Golf & Yacht Club is such a popular place to play in golf-rich Destin.

Great track yet challenging

My husband and I have played Regatta Bay many times, but this time was most enjoyable.

When we checked in, the staff was not just polite, they asked us where do we play golf regularly. Courteous staff from check in, cart staff and the starter making sure we were familiar with the layout!

Ashton Crowe, PGA Professional has it dialed in with attention to detail from staff, amenities and course management- upgrades are in the works on hole 18!

We love playing golf in Destin. Regatta Bay was in great shape even though drought conditions were this Summers normal.

The greens are fast and challenging but that’s what is putting anyway!

If you want a great course and some challenge (that’s golf) play Regatta Bay you won’t be disappointed!

Challenging and fun

Beautiful November day. Fast greens made it tough with chips and 3 putts were par for the day for the entire group. When you made a putt or 2-putted from any distance there was a sense of accomplishment. A lot of fun as it always is when we play there. Favorite course of 30 I’ve played in the area.

Great 16 holes

Course was in great condition The layout is the best in Destin. I started at 2 and only got in 16 holes by 6:30 — pace of play was a bit slow on the back.

Best in Destin

Great amenities and very friendly staff. The greens are rolling super true. The staff at this GC are truly professional and friendly. We were sincerely questioned if the pace of play was satisfactory. (That's a first for me. BTW it was.) There are no downsides here.

1st Visit

Booked through Golf Now, got a discount but only a couple of times available for the whole day. Checked in without anty delay, and hit a few balls at the range (nice range and practice green). Course in great condition, and rough medium length. Bunkers well maintained and very unique player friendly sand rake design never seen before. All in all a very nice experience.

Very happy with the course and staff and it’s worth every penny when you consider legacy in pcb is over $100 to play and is not even in the same ball park. Very enjoyable experience and will be back soon.

Great service

I have played Regatta a number of times since moving to the area 6 years ago. Regatta is consistently well maintained, challenging and always enjoyable. The best attribute is its staff. The golf shop, bag guys and beverage cart girls are always friendly and polite. I played on Saturday October 28th and my experience was once again terrific. A special thank you to the beverage cart girls whose assistance to survive a round is invaluable. Hats off to you ladies, you have to deal with some unreasonable people and smile through it all.
