Lakewood Country Club

Our round took about 5.5 hours. There was no ambassador to regulate the pace of play. We waited on a multiple par 3s for over 20 minutes. The group in front of us was insanely slow while waiting to take their shot with no one on the green or fairway. Unlikely I will return or even recommend anyone coming to play here. Luckily enough we were able to finish the round. They should refund everyone’s money back.

Great course overall, greens were in great condition the only thing is there were goose and bird droppings everywhere. I know it’s hard to keep them away but ball hit down middle of the fairway and droppings are next to the ball or worse was the ball was in the droppings.

Lakewood CC reminded me a lot of other LB courses but also distinguished itself as unique. Lots of trees and dense, lush rough made finding fairways imperative, while the tricky, sometimes severe greens demanded you be below the hole. Not sure if the groundskeeper was having fun with us that day or if they just set the pins in nasty spots routinely, but many of the holes were cut on slopes and only a few paces on, resulting in some demonic roll-outs. Greens were fast (I’m from Palm Springs, no stranger to quick surfaces), please repair your ball marks. Avoid the water hazard on hole 3 specifically…it’s PUTRID

This is really fun course for money and provides a nice change from the three Long Beach Munis. it's a bit scruffy around the fairways so if you hit out there, it can be a challenge finding your ball even if it's under your feet. But it's a beautifully laid out course and fairly challenging for a mid-to-high handicap to be fun. Compared with prime time pricing at Skylinks and El Dorado, it's actually a good deal.

Fairways were super wet all over puddles mud just terrible no reason for over watering .. hasn’t rained in month .. very poor .. greens were great .. of fairways dry up to normal would be great course ..

In the Pro Shop, starter seemed to be in a bad mood but after that speed bump the round was pretty good. The workers on the course were very friendly and the snack bar at the turn server was awesome.

I play 45 times a week a different courses in California and this is one of the better taken care of courses that I have played in the last three months.

Issues:

- Computers were down. Had to hand write credit card info ... horrible security.

- TTime at 7am. Informed at checkin they basically overbooked due to Ladies tournament. Ended up with shotgun start for everyone ( not just tournament). Leading to very slow pace.

- odor at any hole near water was horrendous.
