Lakewood Country Club

We secured a discounted online rate for a Sunday morning two some. And were pleased to be called up early because of a no-show by a group ahead of us. Unfortunately, the fivesome just in front of us played quite slowly and we waited on nearly every hole, resulting in a five hour round. The course was in very good condition, with plenty of lakes and plenty of woods so that the course lived up to its name. The greens were in particularly good condition for a public course. The layout is fun, the variations from hole to hole make the course interesting and playable, and there are opportunities for birdie or double depending on how well you get off the tee.

Had a tee time at 8:07 but got going early which was great and had a 4 hour round. Was also nice to have the snack shack open early and a cart girl come out by 10-10:30. Only down fall was the price for beer was crazy high.

Problem is very slow !!

I had read the reviews about slow play but I thought I would give it a try since I had an early tee time. Well, it did not matter, they send out fivesomes and no one reads the signs posted on the par 3's advising to waive up the group on the tee box. It was so bad that I had to yell at the groups in front of us to get them to move this round along. It helped a little but where are the marshals, this is their job. This course has so much potential, it's just poorly managed which is a shame because they put a lot of money into it. Hopefully someone reads these reviews and takes action, otherwise I will not be back.

Suggestion for Golf Now

The course said Golf Now Does not allow a WALKING rate and would allow me to change to the lower walking rate

Thus i paid for a cart i didnt use. Please allow a walking rate for golf now Reservations . Imwas told its ONLY a golf Now issue

The course backed up 4 groups on the par 3s at holes 5 and 12. It was packed with 4 and 5somes with tons of walkers. When we got to 12 we decided not to wait out the backup again, so we only finished 11 holes. I complained to the starter, who didn’t seem to care much that I barely finished half the golf course. I’ll never go back, and you shouldn’t bother going either. Total waste of money

Played on a Friday afternoon. Wonderful weather and a very enjoyable round. Started at 5 and finished at dark;-great POP. My son and I played here to get him acquainted with the layout due to an upcoming HS tourney. I’m glad we checked it out. I will be back

Course was in great condition. But 6 hours for 18 holes is rediculous. The Greens were very hard like putting on cement. And the layout of some of the greens, you barely tap the ball on one end and it would roll all the way off 50 feet on the other. Just put the cup on a slope.

Lakewood Country club is a nice course to play when course conditions are good. Played on a great weather day 2/18/18. Course has tough Par 3's and some good Par 4's. Pace of Play is slow due to having too many 5somes out on the course and marshall only on 1st tee box during the round.. Tee Boxes need some improvements with lack of good grass to hit off. I believe Lakewood can improve course manicuring with the right person.

Note: New club house and sitting area outside really nice.

Look forward to seeing it get better by the summer.

5 somes abound. Started 30 min late, 6 hour round.

Poorly managed!!

This was the slowest round I’ve played in a long time. Teed off at 9:45 and only made it through 16 by 2:15. That was enough for us as the groups in front of us were so slow and had zero etiquette. Backed up on every par 3 and no waving up. Will never go back at that time again. Has to be a dawn round.

Lakewood is a very nice course. One of the best locally. Usually well groomed. Like the lay out and difficulty.

Just too crowded and holes usually gets backed up in several spots. So there's hole jumping. And pace is slow. Only turn off.

The course was nice, but they sent out all groups of 5. It took 3+ hours to play 9 holes and we were stacked not only at the par3, but par4 as well. We not play there again unless I can get out firsy.
