Great course
The course was well-maintained and the greens were fast and smooth.
The scenery was beautiful, especially around the lake on hole
Staff were friendly and the clubhouse facilities were excellent.
I’d definitely recommend this course to other golfers!
Lakewood
Lakewood has a great layout, wide fairways but if your left or right you will scramble from the trees and if 220-230 is your drive fairway bunkers come into play on most holes. The fairways are quite beat up so put your ball on some grass and take a good swing at it. The greens were still trying to heal from being punched and being played in the rain for 2 days. Nobody seems to know how to repair their divots in the fairway or ball marks on the greens or more likely the locals dont care. Challenging long course and enjoyed playing here will play more often just have to play giving yourself a decent lie in fairways. Staff is very pleasant to engage with.
Too slow
2 1/2 hours front nine. They let too many back nine groups. The wait was 3-4 groups starting on whole 11. Started at 6:30 left after 14 holes at 11:00. Not fun
Why water sand traps?
It was 100 degrees in late afternoon, yet almost all the sand traps had standing water.
greens were punched, fairways were wet and muddy.
We did finish in just over 4 hrs.
That was a plus.
MEH!
Golfnow didn't even state there was punched greens
Good mid level public course
Paid 100 on Golf now, apparently, this was some kind of deal, and I was entitled to 2 sleeves of Lakewood logo golf balls at a 33 dollar value. The balls had no logos, and were worth 10 bucks a sleeve at best. (taylormade supersoft)
The greens need some love, they have that blight here and there. despite the balding pattens, the greens move well.
Sand traps are great! very fluffy.
The water looks disgusting, I felt bad for the fowl. Not sure if it was just algae bloom or chemicals or both. A lot of it looked like oil slick.
Fairways were good, roughs weren't too rough.
Tee box grass might have been cut too high.
Really long par 3s.
The clubhouse restaurant was empty... but the doors were open. I don't think anyone worked there.
Snack shack had limited beer options, and bad hot dogs.
Staff was friendly.
Would not recommend at $100. I'd play here for $70 w/cart.
Several holes were really wet and fairways were pretty rough on many holes. Greens were in nice condition.
It was a bad day for golf alot of rain
It wad a rainy day but we made the best of it the staff at the pro shop could have been friendlier. Just seemed like the guy was having a bad day ..the staff at the café was amazing tho and the food was good while we waited out the rain .
Good Experience for the Price
Had a Sunday Twilight round that started 150pm.
The starter was professional and to the point and got us started right on time.
The facilities are adequate to get you ready for your round: including two putting greens, a driving range, and a full chipping area.
The course is pretty much flat but most holes have plenty of trees and some lakes lining the hole: making accurate tee shots a must. The back tees play over 7000 yards and are marked off with a large rock at the furthest back tee box for each hole.
The greens had a lot of pitch marks, but the greens still rolled true for the conditions. They bunkers also recently got sand compared to last time, which is a major upgrade.
I've never had a sub-4.5 hour round at this course but a lot of that has to do with the longer par 3s that make for the course being challenging, especially the 12th tee. Today was as close to it as I have ever been.
Overall, the course is one to play again if there's no issue with a slower round.
Nice course but 5.5 hour round :(
I like this course, but we played on Sunday and it was overbooked or not managed well. We had a 5 1/2 hour round, which is unacceptable. Especially unacceptable on that day because it was in the 90’s and humid.
No carts available at tee time
No carts available at 4pm. Waited 25 minutes to get a cart and finally tee off. Pace of play was terrible, backed up at least 3 groups on each hole.
