Vacation golf
Was a little disappointed in the condition of the LPGAs home course. I was expecting it to be more well kept but greens and tee boxes were below average and Fairways were just ok. We did enjoy playing the course which has a very friendly feel. Also they had alot more mens golf apparel than women's which seemed odd with it being the women's home course. No starter around so we just took off a few minutes early.
Beautiful course
We booked 3 days out and it happened that thunderstorms were coming in right around our tee time so we pretty much had the course to ourselves, we did get caught in the rain but was hard and went through quickly and we were able to get in the rest of our 18. Course was very forgiving for a slicer and pretty wide open. Fairways were plush and well groomed, greens were nice and held the ball. Going again!
LPGA JONES
Course conditions, layout and staff was everything you would expect at a top level course. Definitely on the replay list.
Great track
Was paired up with a local teaching pro and student. Played 18 in 4 hours. Awesome track
Extremely unnecessary slow play
Michigan golfers looking forward to a nice round. Waited on every tee box and every shot. No rangers in sight. Turned the corner on a par 5 to see all four men looking for random balls in a stream in front of the tee box while the group in front of them were walking off the green. Only after they spotted us did they get in their carts to find their drives. Quit after 14 holes. Played here twice before without any issues.
Course is getting much better with the warmer weather.
Over booked
Waited an hour and a half to tee off after our tee time
Nice Layout
Course was in good condition, pins were on difficult slopes which made putting a little challenging. Food shack at the turn was closed at turn which was very inconvenient.
Fun course with friendly staff
Played with my son. Early tee time with lovely couple from England . Course was in excellent shape . Fairways are generous . Greens were large . A bit of sands on the green gave some inconsistent rolls and lines , but probably more of my inconsistent putting :)
Terrible experience.!
This coarse is very nice! Beautiful large fairways and in great shape. But..... Coarse management is not good, We had a 11 am tee time on a beautiful sunny day. As we paid for our green fees they informed us that that the tea times were running about ten to fifteen minutes behind. As we approached the number one t, we noticed a tremendous amount of carts and golfers around the front tea box. I went back in and asked again if we would be on time. And they again told me that we will be fine. Back at the front tea box, we could clearly see that we would be at least an hour late with no reason for a delay from the weather or anything else. Seems to be members were jumping in front of us from some tournament. They started on the back nine, and obviously they had the course before us, which was terribly unfair. When we finally got started, the round took us five and a half hours. As we put our clubs back in our vehicles, we were informed by some workers that this happens a lot. This is a very beautiful and nice course. But I would avoid it, as i've never had such a poor experience with management at the course. They basically wasted two and a half hours of my day!
Save your money
LPGA International is run very poorly. I had a 1+ hour delay to tee off while being told they are only 30 min behind. The Marshalls, who are normally overbearing on the first tee are nowhere to be found to help. They staff does nothing to help get back on schedule. This is an extreme example, but this is a regular occurrence at LPGA.
Great Shape but bunker sand needs replacing
Tee to green course in great shape. It's dry so course plays firm. Greens are fast and crusty. The sand in most of the bunkers sucks. Almost like hitting off concrete in many of them.
Massive potential here...if properly managed
Course is pretty good overall, with a nice layout and plenty of challenge. Fairways are generously wide, but should you stray too far left or right there are large traps on most every hole. Greens are well trapped and many are elevated, so bring your best iron play, The wind was howling on the day we played, and that made for tough conditions.
Pace of play is a real problem here. Our round took 5 hours. We waited on many tee boxes, so as a result we got to know a few members, and they confirmed that slow play is a perpetual problem. There are a few reasons for this, from my vantage point: a) tee times are 7 minutes apart - too many players jammed into a day, b) sand traps are VERY large and 90%+ of them only had one rake - as a result, players have to walk long distances to fetch a rake before hitting their shot, and c) there is no ranger on the course making sure pace of play is up to par.
If ownership resolved the slow play problem, this could be a fantastic place to play.
LPGA Jones course
This course could be so much more if only the pace of play could be fixed. It took us 5 hours and 15 minutes to complete the round and we had a considerable wait on every tee box. Better management of starting times is needed in order to greatly improve. Overall a good course but would not play again.
Slow Play
We enjoyed playing the course. It is a good layout for the average golfer and generally in good condition. The fairways are generous minimizing the effect of wayward tee shots. Play on this day was horribly slow - a five-hour round.
Staff at the course needs training in customer service. From the bag drop to the pro shop to the beverage cart to the halfway house there is an attitude problem. At the halfway house I waited several minutes for two employees to finish their conversation. Then a 30% tip didn't even deserve an acknowledgement. At least I got a grunt from the lady manning the beverage cart. To me this is a management issue. They don't care.
