Hidden Hills Golf Club
About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Golf Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard public golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Golf Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Horrible Condition/Fast Round
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the course look THIS bad and still charge $50 for a “discounted” round.
Maybe 2/18 tee boxes actually had level ground without sand and 2/18 greens at least looked good, but were shag carpets. The rough and fairway grass was essentially the same if you managed to find any grass from all the lack of it throughout the course. Bunkers are essentially just mud pits or sand packed harder than concrete. Played solo in under 3 hours which was the only great aspect to the round today and the staff were very friendly. I doubt I’ll be back unless the price is sub $30 until a lot is fixed. IMO just close the course for a year and get it back to what it once was.
Poor condition
The Tee box and fairways were in decent condition due to the lack of rain. But, the greens were horrendous. I won't be back for a long time.
Needs help
Grass is hard to find, greens are in rough shape, fairways the same, you can find more grass on fairways
Never again
I play some bad courses before but this one Tops them all.
Fairways were like cow pastures greens look like they had some kind of a disease.
S.O.S
I truly hope somebody from this course sees this review. This is probably the worst shape it’s ever been since I’ve played this course in the last three years. The grass is so dry that it might catch on fire. The greens are basically un puttable. This place used to be great… my question is what happened? Why don’t they water the course more? Also, why the haven’t you fired that entire golf course maintenance crew and hired a new one. Seems like the owner doesn’t care about this course and it’s all about the $$.
Hidden Hills
Was once a great course to play, layout and contours are good but the conditions of the course leave a lot to be desired. Overpriced for conditions. Greens made the experience less enjoyable than in the past. Sad to see for what it once was….
Fairway & Greens
This course used to be one of the best in the area, but it’s really gone downhill. Several greens are in bad shape, and some fairways are in desperate need of water. I got a hot deal, which I guess made it worth it, but I wouldn’t pay full price. If you’re paying the regular rate, you’re getting ripped off. I hope during the rainy season it gets back to what it once was.
White sands bomb site
The greens were so bad that you literally couldn’t putt. Between the mold kill and the fringe height putting surface all you could do is hope to get your first putt within 5 feet then take a gimmie. Fairways were only slightly better than the greens. Not what I expected for the price
Just Bad!
Course is in pretty bad shape. Greens and tee boxes are horrible and the fairways are just as bad. Definitely not worth what they are charging for green fees.
Course needs help
Horrible horrible course conditions. The reviews on here aren’t lying. The greens have more hills than the course itself. Fairway isn’t even a fairway.
Interesting, unusual layout but suffering from poor conditions
As the name implies, this course is unlike most in Florida because it features hills that make it more interesting. I've played this course before but I've never seen it in such poor condition. Most tees, fairways and greens were pretty bare. There were quite a few workers present so maybe they are in the process of bringing it back. Some tees had recently been rebuilt and the bunkers were in pretty good shape. I will give it a few months and try it again to see if they are making progress.
