Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Golf Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard public golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Golf Club's greens are well bunkered.

Not in good shape right now
The layout itself is great - interesting holes, lots of elevation change you just don't get in the area very much, etc. But the conditions are poor. Most tee boxes are not even close to flat. Fairways are hardpan sand in many places. We frequently moved our balls to the nearest patch of "grass" for second shots. Rough mostly likewise dirt. Greens bumpy as heck and grooved heavily from recent work with machines. Bunkers a mixed bag of hard dirt and soft sand that was difficult to judge need for bounce. I'm sure our recent drought hasn't helped, but almost everything here needs a lot of work to be worth the amount they charge vs other nearby courses in better shape for less.

Bad greens
Fairways had bare spots but weren't horrible. The greens have weird ruts in them. When I would putt if the ball caught a rut if would take off down it. Needless to say, it was very hard to putt.

Better fairways
The fairways were better and the ball only had to be moved a few inches for a non-sandy lie..

Very dry. Greens in transition. Need rain. Still one of my favorites.

You can do better!
There are much better courses available out there for the price you pay at this one. The gentleman in the pro shop grunted at best. Not a repeat customer here.

Course not in good shape. Greens are very bumby, fairways and tee boxes with lots of bare areas. Restroons in terrible conditions.

Overpriced for current state
Overall great experience here every time but the course has really gone downhill in quality. Though it appears there is an effort ongoing to correct that

Very Poor Golf Experience
Greens were poor. Fairway conditions terrible. Tee boxes beat up. Pace of play was horrendous. I'm not sure how you get backed up before 8am. But this course knows how to do it.
5 hour round for $80 for a course of the absolute lowest caliber seems like a scam

Great track - spring conditions.
Very warm enjoyable day at a FL course with real terrains. The greens are recovering from a sort of aeration (parallel grooving - maybe another week) and the ‘rough’ (negligible) was being core aerated. Lots of roll as the fairways are still thin. Challenging course. Exceptional club house I think. Good range with practice bunker.

Course is not in good Shape
Cordial staff, good facility but the course is not in good shape. Poor greens. Thin to no fairways in spots. According to groundskeeper, recent weather trends did not help.

Inexplicable
This is a really nice layout with elevation changes and contoured fairways, but the course is not in good condition and the greens are terrible. I would think that February would be a favorable month with moderate temperatures and not many golfers so I can't fathom why the course was not in better shape.
