Hidden Hills Golf Course
About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Fun Times
Course looked really good. Fun round and a bit challenging.
Needed more than 6 hours to play 18
Beautiful course and staff was friendly. Our group of 4 - average skill golfers arrived about 30 minutes early for our 9:22 tee time. We were informed as we were all paying that a tournament was ahead of us but they seemed to be on time. As it turned out the last group of the tournament was about 15 minutes behind their tee time which pushed us back about the same. This tournament had a wide range of skill levels and despite the last group having obvious low skill level they were using hold tee boxes. We asked the starter if it would be possible to start on hole 10 to avoid likely slow play and were told no. As the play finally began we soon saw the slowest play we have ever seen and on several occasion's were on our green tee box when that same group would come back from the fairway and re tee again from the gold tee forcing us to clear the area. These guys were hitting like 150 yard drives on average. We left after 15 long frustrating holes when a player once again came back to re tee again from the gold tee box. It took us well over 5 hours to play 15 holes. The group behind us was very frustrated and left early also.
Timely Hills
Good design and challenges with something for everyone. While some tee boxes and greens are still works in progress, it’s clear improvements are being actively made.
Not much warm and fuzzy for first timers from
The staff, but polite nonetheless.
Despite a nearly 5 hour round, we would play it again.
Tee boxes need moving and please have a marshal speeding up play
We enjoy Hidden Hills for the variety of holes and wildlife but pace of play was terrible today and the tee boxes need moving or repairing as they were terrible on most of the holes played.
Food was ordered for halfway but given the slow play was cold and a waste of money also
Management needs to get on this in 2025 please
Greens are great and most tee boxes aren’t
Course is in solid shape for fall golf in northeast Florida. Greens were nice and consistent speed wise. Tee boxes are rough but course played well. We were stuck up behind some large groups who didn’t care to mindfully play quick so we skipped 16 and 18 to get done in 4 hrs probably would have been 5 had we not. Otherwise play huh!
Getting better
Course still needs work but getting better each time I play. Good deal if you can book as a hot deal.
So want to love this place....
Let me preface everything I am about to say by saying this is by far my favorite golf course layout in the Jacksonville area. This course has "great bones" as there are many memorable holes, nothing is boring about it and it is relatively hilly, especially for this area.
Now, the conditions.....
The tee boxes are very slanted, more so than they need to be, and quite chewed up in many places. The fairways and rough are reasonably bare, although it looks like they have been doing work on their irrigation system, which could help. The greens were pretty shaggy and not in great shape. So, it is very hard to get a true sense of how you are playing and how you are putting because nothing rolls true.
I really wish they could find a way to bring this course back to it's former glory. It has absolutely amazing potential. If you don't really care about course conditions, then it is a nice place to get out and play. Pace of play was great, carts were new and were propane powered, and again, the layout is absolutely fantastic.
Greens extremely slow
Greens very very slow . The layout is bery gpod. With additional maintenance the course could be top notch.
Getting better
Course is coming back
Greens are almost there
Still need work on tee boxes
