Rating 74.0

Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.

The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.

Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.

Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Great Layout, Not So Great Condition

The aesthetics to make this a great place to play are there...The layout of the course is excellent and it was fun to play and take some challenging shots. The big disappointment was the overall condition of the course. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were a hot mess. If they could get a cash infusion to improve the course conditions, it would be a beautiful place to play.

D Smith

The course is in good condition, the green are great, but the tee boxes can use some work. I used to golf here regularly, but then the course fell off and I stop coming. The course isn't were it used to be, but it definitely is improving.

Good Conditions but…

The course has decent conditions but if you’re a beginner- not the best. There’s water hazards and sand traps everywhere! If you’re looking for a challenge, go for it! If you’re not very good yet- find a course with less hazards! We struggled. Also because they are trying to regrow the tee boxes, many of them are temporarily off to the side on uneven ground and a bit off-camber. Beautiful clubhouse though! Friendly staff too 👍🏼

Great layout

This course layout is really one of the best in jacksonville. However it's shame that course condition is really poor. They just changed management company. I hope they make good improvement and all golfers enjoy this Arnold Calmer design course.

1:38 tee time, 30 minute wait

We had to wait over 30 minutes to tee off on Saturday due to a lack of golf carts. No offer of anything complimentary for our wait, just waiting like a bunch of sad sacks. If you inconvenience your patrons, why not offer something to make up for the unexpected delay. The course was decent but everyone felt like they had to play to make up for lost time. Finished 18 as the sunset. Far from a great experience, far from a decent experience

Slow and terrible conditions

A lot of areas with no grass. Greens were overseeded but not mowed so could have been more than 7 on stemp meter. I won’t be going back.

Too much sand

The fairways on the course are like the sand traps... very sandy. The layout is challenging, especially the hilly greens. The pro shop is well stocked. The grill is also pretty good for lunch and the burgers are wonderful. Definitely a place to come try.

Bad condition

This is normally a nice course and a great layout, but the front 9 fairways looked like a construction zone. The back 9 was much nicer. I would have expected a much lower rate with the condition of the course.

Long way to go

Greens and several tee boxes are much improved, fairways have a long way to go, very thin, seems like the soil there is not conducive to growing grass

Course is an absolute dump for $67. It’s actually funny they dare to charge that much to hit off a dirt tee box for 18 holes then to be hitting off dirt or sand in the middle of the fairway. Very disappointing considering the course used to be in great shape and has a challenging layout.
