Rating 74.0

Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.

The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.

Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.

Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Stay away

Maybe the worst course conditions I've ever seen. From tee to green, every part of this course was in disrepair. They should be embarrassed.

Very very poor conditions

Greens and tee boxes were in terrible conditions! Fairways were ok. Temporary green on one hole. Not worth money paid!

Nice layout

More rolling than most FL courses. Challenging without being too long. Greens are rough right now; must have been a dry spell. Plenty of fun for the amateur like me.

Used to be a nice course

I choose this course because it was designed by Arnold Palmer. I knew it would be laid out nicely and it was. This course has tons of potential. Unfortunately I think this course has seen better days. I enjoyed the layout but the greens were a mess.

Nice fast round

Really enjoy this course when it’s as empty as this was. It needs some course management which is ongoing and maybe is why it wasn’t busy today. But it’s a challenging, scenic and mostly enjoyable

Course and when there’s no one in front of you a quick round in this heat is always welcomed

Do not play here. Would give it a zero if it was allowed. 4 greens in front 9 are unplayable.

$85 for this is a rip off

Fun layout, nice people, etc. However the price to play on this course in its current condition is offensive. Temp green on a par 5 with no notice. Horrible tee boxes. Worse greens. Poor fairways. It was so bad we didn’t even feel like giving them money and stay for a post round beer, we actually went off site.

Terrible

They’ve let this place go so far downhill and want to charge the same price as other courses. It’s sad… just sad, worst course probably in Jacksonville at the moment. Great cart girl service every time I’ve been though

Awful!

We will not play here again. Half the greens are sand. Sprinklers going off while putting on par 3s. Birds pooping all over greens. Place used to be awesome. Stay away!

I enjoy the layout of this course but with the condition of the greens and some of the fairways and tee boxes it may be awhile before I consider playing again.

20 years of gruesome conditions

Worst golf course and worst run in Jacksonville. Played here 40 years, never this bad even when we had 5 temporary greens. If you finish after 3, can’t get food because they close grill. Owners per cent of capital improvements at minimum. Place used to be busy, now it’s shaping up to be the new Baymeadows, but owner doesn’t care apparently.lots of people paid over 4000 back in December for years free play, golf is playable maybe 4 months, but prices on food and beer go up and conditions go down. Haven’t had a putting green close to 2 months because of wrong chemicals according to maintenance. Chipping green horrible shape. Nothing good about this place big waste of 4000$ for about 50 people I know. Owner should re imburse but probably have the authority. Actually I’m playing this Thursday for another crappy golf outing with the other stupid friends I play with

This course is beautiful

I love this course because its got a great layout and very peaceful. The pace of play is great and as a not so good golfer there is definitely enough room for your ball to still be in play on most holes. My favorite hole is definitely the par 5 that goes over water. Id recommend this course to anyone, their only downside is the greens but they appear to be fixing them and I'm sure the greens are going to be great soon. Great course lots of fun

Terrible Shape (DO NOT PLAY)

The course is in terrible shape and has been for the past 8-9 months. Don't waste your time. 50% of the greens are unplayable. Fairways are all dead grass and dirt. It doesn't matter how low those "Hot Deals" on GolfNow go, it's not worth it. Hopefully someone comes in and buys this course because it has potential, but whoever is running it now, has no idea what's going on.
