About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Nice course but greens were off
The course layout was difficult. Forced less—than-driver off the tee and forced layups on many holes so it played longer than actual yardage. The fairways were in overall nice shape. The tee boxes could use some work and the greens must have had work done to them recently because they had a that thatched pattern to them and rolled very inconsistent. Will play again but would like to see the course in better condition next time
Greens under repair
They are working on the greens so putting is very challenging since ball bounces thru tiny grooves of crusty grass. Course needs more water on tee boxes. Layout is outstanding but it’s a shame the course conditions detract from the potential.

Maybe Next Year
Course conditions are awful maybe try water once and awhile. Aerated greens = Reduced rate anywhere else. If you can’t afford water and know the conditions are awful the rates need to match it. This is no longer the course it was so the price needs to be updated to match.

Terrible shape
Not a good value for the conditions. From bunkers, fairways to greens very poor. No rangers on course, 3 hours for 9 holes. Increased price for Players week. Won’t be back. It’s a shame too because the layout is beautiful!!

Just Horrible
The course was not great and the staff was a bunch of has beens that treated everyone horribly. There were 16 golfers backed up on hole 3. Over booked over priced!. Maybe you should refund our $.

Fairways Need Work
I have been waiting for the fairways to improve for almost a year, no luck. Really hard to find grass in most fairways to hit from. Such a nice course but really needs some attention to the fairways/tee boxes.

Great Layout! Needs to be better maintained…
Amazing layout! You can feel the (former) PGA course layout. You have to be accurate off the tee and water carry comes with just about every shot to the green. We really enjoyed the course, but! It needs a lot of maintenance. All the tee boxes had damaged/bare spots. All the greens had bare spot and some kind of cross-cut repair. Lots of fairway sand also! I really hope they get the maintenance figured out. Loved the layout and character. I want to play this course again!!! Would definitely recommend!

Not in good shape right now
The layout itself is great - interesting holes, lots of elevation change you just don't get in the area very much, etc. But the conditions are poor. Most tee boxes are not even close to flat. Fairways are hardpan sand in many places. We frequently moved our balls to the nearest patch of "grass" for second shots. Rough mostly likewise dirt. Greens bumpy as heck and grooved heavily from recent work with machines. Bunkers a mixed bag of hard dirt and soft sand that was difficult to judge need for bounce. I'm sure our recent drought hasn't helped, but almost everything here needs a lot of work to be worth the amount they charge vs other nearby courses in better shape for less.

Bad greens
Fairways had bare spots but weren't horrible. The greens have weird ruts in them. When I would putt if the ball caught a rut if would take off down it. Needless to say, it was very hard to putt.

The fairways were better and the ball only had to be moved a few inches for a non-sandy lie..
