Hidden Hills Golf Course

This is my home course as far as practice goes. Range is solid (minus the proliferation of gnats that bite at every inch of uncovered skin.) They verticut the overseed that never grew in properly on the greens, this leads to bumpy lines that act as speed bumps across grain and wobbly downgrain. Don’t come here expecting to score or enjoy your round at all. Tight lies, mucky and dead grass. Gas carts so you can taste the fumes in your mouth and smell it in your nose for days after. The price is fairly cheap but the course sucks, so. Sad to see because the layout is fun. Also maybe use some pesticide on the driving range for your $8/bag of 40 balls so I don’t get ripped by gnats for $16. Staff is cool except for the one guy, you know who.

Definitely different to play a course in Florida with hills.

Hitting from bare dirt lies all day and slow. Won’t be heading back.

We’ve had a few cold days in Jax this winter but still disappointed in the conditions of the course. Have played here several times and I have to say this is probably the worst I’ve seen it. Greens had some weird striping that either made the ball bounce uncontrollably if going across it or it you pitted with it would take your ball down a stripe “lane” and make it go offline. All putts were hit and hope. The fairways weren’t just dormant, they were very thin and felt like hitting off hard pan. The tee boxes were completely beaten to death. Hoping warmer days helps them. The course is hard enough but even harder with bad playing conditions.

Only issue is that greens and 20 yards surrounding were criss cross thatched leaving grooves. Ball roll was impossible to predict. Should have been warning in ProShop regarding condition and reduced cost.

Make no mistake H HILLS is a great golf course, brilliantly designed by , I think, Arnold Palmer. BUT it pains me to say it has gone way down hill. Quite simply there isn't any grass on the course. Numerous bear spots all over the coarse , even on the fairways. On top of that the greens are barely puttable.. On a golf course where there are numerous "forced carries" over water to reach greens you must have grass on the course to provide a lie to make a difficult golf shot. Unfirtunately that isn't the case and it makes for a very frustrating day unless you are a single digit handicap are simply don't care what you score.

I would love to come back to this course in the future but I have no intention of returning until their conditions improve.

We have been a part of the Hidden Hills family over 10 years. Now, our 7 year old plays golf and loves it. The greens look great! Excellent course!!!

Played my first round recently and was pleasantly surprised at the size of this course. Great bargain overall. The greens are being refreshed so not in great shape but the rest of the course was great. A fun to play course even if you are an average golfer like me. Love the elevations.

Paired with other twosome who are weekly players at the course. Although the greens have grass tracks foe almost every hole, we enjoyed it very much!

Greens and fairways were in terrible shape. Couldn’t even putt a ball if you wanted to. First time here and probably will never end up coming back.

Drove an hour to play this course at $75 pp. Greens were in abysmal shape. Completely grooved. Sandy fairways and because of golfers in front of us we werent able to finish our round in under 5 hours.

Legitimately will not ever be back to this course unless that price is cut in half or more.

Staff was friendly. Nothing bad to say about the staff whatsoever. The clubhouse was nice too and we had a nice lunch/linner after our 5 hour round at 3 pm.

Good challenging golf course with excellent staff!!! The course conditions are fairly rough right not. The greens never recovered from the Berta cutting and seeding. Rough. The cooler weather had a negative impact on the fairways and tee boxes.

I’m sure the course conditions will improve soon.

It was initially raining and I called the staff. It took 20 minutes to get a hold of the golf shop as the phone just kept ringing. When I finally was able to speak to someone I inquired about a rain check. The individual told me that I would need to drive down at my tee time to get the rain check. I asked if I was able to pick it up at some point that week as I live 40 minutes away and was told no. His exact comment was you should have known when you used the golf now app terms and conditions that if you don’t show up by tee time then we just charge you. Made me realize it is best to just call ahead instead of using the app if that is how pro shops treat you. I showed up at the tee time and the staff member was no where to be found. We decided to golf in the crappy condition. Greens were bad as well as there were rows of grass that looked like a pine tree forest and no manicured.

Played this course numerous times throughout the last few years. Used to be a great go to course when you want to get a round in. It’s slowly deteriorating over the years and this last time? Won’t be going back anytime soon. I know this past winter did a number on many courses in the Jacksonville area, but the greens are like webbed concrete mats. The fairways are bonehard and have no growth. I lost two balls that landed just on the front of the green and rolled all the way off the back and over the burn into the water. Ball should have stopped at some point but there was nothing to hold it. Tee times are too close together. Backs up at 6, 7 and 8. And then again from 14 on. Can take you 1.5 to play last 5 holes. The lay out is good, but the maintenance, condition and slow pay don’t warrant the green fees they are charging.
