Hidden Hills Golf Course
About
Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open.
The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida.
Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered.
Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Good course
All these rains we have has improved the course condition. Greens need a little work but better. Just need to keep working on those greens
Great layout but......
This could be a very nice course if they would maintain it.
Great course. Poor maintenance
The course wasn’t in good shape at all. Fairways were dry and very patchy. Greens were really slow in some parts and non existent in others.
Course has tremendous potential but it really feels like very minimal maintenance is being done. Tee boxes were also very poor conditions.
Could be that we haven’t had a drop of rain fora few months but I must say the best place to hit from was when your ball found someone’s back yard. 😂
nice layout, experience was sub-par (pun intended)
first time played the course, and it wasn't like what it was where I played. practice facility was pretty alright, could've used some maintenance on the hitting areas at the range. Course itself wasn't comparable to spending ~47 for an evening round. Each hole was different in terms of conditions, some were nice (mainly the ones in the vicinity of the clubhouse), and some were so unplayable that I had to skip a couple. Pace of play was manageable, even though groups ahead wanted to take their sweet time that I barely finished in time to bring the cart back, mind you I played at just after 4.
Overall, if you really need somewhere to play and you don't care about spending the near 50 for a round, by all means go for it. whatever kills the time for you.
Mistake
Inadvertent email sent by mistake need it deleted please
Getting worse
Course layout changing due to eliminating tees, no watering because parts are 20 yrs old with nothing but band aids holding pump together. Ponds are horrible even though local HOA buddies spend over 10,000 a year to help him out but he has table reserved for them on Friday nites in the so called restaurant. Slowly looking like Baymeadows, but this place makes money just to cheap to spend it. Heard owner is running for PGA position, what a frigging joke, he should have a tournament and let them see his masterpiece. Love to get some of my money back but owner has no authority. Played here over 40 yrs, embarrassed to tell other golfers I live here. Hoping for refund check🤔
Great staff, practice facilities
Course layout, practice areas, workers were great. Course is in rough shape. It’s been dry, but fairways and tee boxes were majority sand on most holes. Greens weren’t awful but it doesn’t seem like much effort goes into the course at this time. Houses on the courses are beautiful and it seems like this course was at one time top-notch, but it seems neglected. Hopefully it turns around.
Fairways are garbage, and pace of play is rediculously slow
Last two times playing here the pace of play was terrible. There are groups just strolling, and taking their sweet time, like no one else exists on the planet... Both times, I needed to skip two holes just to make the round a reasonable speed.
In addition, the fairways are patchy at best, with sand and washouts prominent throughout all fairways. Hardly a good lie to be found in the fairway. Almost wanted to be in the rough, just to find some semblance of grass.
Greens were in good shape, though very slow, and being kept purposely long, which I get. But that was the only brightspot.
Overall, this is a $35-$45/round course at this point, NOT in the $60's or higher. Needs to be maintained better to keep that pricing. Will not be back until prices come down. Plenty of other courses in this price range, or even a couple bucks more with far better fairway conditions and pace.
Would not spend the time or money
The course conditions are terrible from the tee box to greens. Fairway was mostly sand and we had to try to find a grass patch to move the ball for the next shots.
Needs work
Course needs a lot of rain and work. Greens were actually pretty good but slow. Saw people working on the irrigation system on numerous holes. Would love to see it come back since it is such a great layout.
Hills
Layout has changed because of weeds and neglect and owner not spending any money, friend saw a pump part he sold them in 1987. Percent of capital improvement has to be barely 1%. Just a horrible golf course, that’s why 20-25 guys left, wish I didn’t live here, would never play if I didn’t. Worse 4000$ investment ever, it’s like buying bad stock that failed
iWorst course ever
dont play here. course conditions are terrible. Avoid this place unless you like playing in sand and walking through grease crap
Fairways
The layout of the course is really nice. And it is a tough course. Especially the front half the greens were in great shape for the most part
But the fairways were not in great shape. There's a bunch of fairways that need a lot of work didn't appreciate playing out of the sand
worst course ever
this course has so much potential but there is little to no course maintenance. fairways are terrible, greens are just as bad. such a disappointment. ownership and management appears to have given up. waste of time and way over priced. I will not return!
Hidden Hills GC
Horrible condition. Fairways practically all dirt. Played here on a recommendation from a friend. Needless to say, we are no longer friends. If they offer u to play here for free, stay home!
