John Fought and Tom Lehman collaborated on the course at Verrado Golf Club, a voluptuous design that meanders through the old Caterpillar bulldozer proving grounds. It's up and down for 18 holes and that doesn't mean "chip and a putt." The course is good test with chances to score and a handful of memorable and scenic holes.

Where Verrado Golf Course will eat you alive is in the bunkers. Some bunkers are hard to carry, others collect wayward shots. But the fairways are wide enough to avoid trouble, and what appears to be the safe shot off the tee will often bring greenside bunkers more into play. So pick your poison.

While the back nine is far superior to the front, going out still has its fair share of memorable holes. A huge boulder 30 feet tall on the par-4 eighth jets out from the left side around which the fairway shapes itself. A perfect line from the tee box is to take the ball five yards right off its edge, but hitting the boulder is certain death by desert. The boulder was scheduled to crumble via dynamite, but stood up to the TNT and was deemed an immoveable object. Open and playable for all skill levels, the Verrado Golf Club is a sublime experience.

There was an aerification alert, so I called. The guy told me the course was in good condition considering the hot weather. Total nonsense! The greens were basically unplayable.

I understand times aren't what they used to be but it was kind of a journey to get out there and I took my son who is leaving for college soon. Neither of us could stomach 18 holes, so we bailed after 9. The staff needs to do better

I won't be playing there again, not for a while. Respect the game, respect yourself, avoid this place

Excellent experience.

First rate staff. From the pro shop to the beverage cart we were treated very well. Every time the beverage cart came around the ladies made sure we had plenty of ice. Course was in very good condition for the time of year. Greens had been aerated recently and were decent shape. Played the Founders course and will return to play the Victory course. Quite a drive from Casa Grande but worth the trip. I highly recommend this facility.

Course was great tee to green. They just punched so give it a couple weeks and it will be in good shape. This is a players course from the tips so bring your A game.

Best Course got the money period.

Both Verrado courses are always an excellent condition, offer amazing views, and are challenging fun courses. The Verrado courses are an absolute gem in the valley. If these courses had a Scottsdale ZIP Code they would beTwice the price. Hard to beat these two courses
