Sand Canyon Country Club
About
The Valley is one of two 18-hole golf courses at Robinson Ranch. As the name would imply, the course is tucked into the Santa Clarita Valley next to the Los Angeles National Forest. California Sycamores, coastal live oaks, and stands of sage and chaparral blanket both golf courses. Scenic waterfalls further enhance the beautiful landscape and they also come into play throughout, most notably on the Valley's finishing hole. The Valley is the original layout at Robinson Ranch. It is not as hilly and plays more like a championship golf course than the shorter Mountain Course. Several elevated tees are incorporated into the design to take advantage of the stunning mountains views. The traditional layout combines both desert-style holes with holes that more tree lined. It offers an interesting variety of challenged including doglegs, sand traps strategically placed along the landing zones, and well protected, multi-tiered greens.

What a Beautiful Course and Beautiful People!!!!
This was by far the best golfing experience my wifeand I have had to date. The people in the clubhouse were great , the people helping us with our bags, cart and the course were amazing and the course was the best manicured and cared for course of all that I have been to. I see why it costs more to play on this course. *I will be back as soon as I can.
Very nice course.
We played at twilight and the course was wide open. Nice to have the course all to ourselves. Fun and in great shape.
Tight but challenging
The course was nicely laid out and a lot of fun to play. Will diffidently play again.
Difficult course
This was the first time that I had played this course. Greens had just been punched a week prior so the greens were a little slow and bumpy. The course layout was nice, there were some elevated tee boxes with some views. The course itself was very unforgiving, everything sloped away from the fairway to the ruff or hazards which were almost impossible to find your ball if your in them. I am a 12 handicap and struggled on this course from the white tees. We only paid $29.00, but would pay $55.00 all day. Would have been 100% better with gps to tell distances to hazards, but the nice thing was that they have multiple sprinkles with front/back/center yardages. Will definitely pay again.
With Golf Now this is a bargain...
If you're willing to drive just a little way from LA is a great deal when you compare prices with any sort of municipal course, assuming the GN discount of course. This place has a staff that keeps the place running smoothly and they provide lots of nice service touches like helping you with your bag at the bag drop and escorting you to the first tee.
best courses in the canyon country
one of my favor course. the greens, fairways are very good condition. but tee boxes need some attention.
RR has a great condition throughout the course!
It was a quite challenging for mid-level golfers like me hovering the scores around 105 but the quality in course in general was pristine and it was very impressive on greens which has a super fast sliding grass like professional tour games.
great layout and in good shape
was like a desert course but with elevation changes and some
trees that were strategically placed enjoy course emmensely
from beginning to end
Hit’em straight…
Robinson Ranch is by far one of the best values for your hard-earned golf money in all of SoCal.
Well kept, true rolling greens, very nice rolling fairways and oh, least I forget, you better hit’em straight. This is not a place for the squeamish nor faint of heart. There are basically no tree-lined fairways here, so if you’re not in the fairway you’re more than likely taking a drop and a lost shot. I almost forgot to mention that the staff is very friendly and helpful? For the money I can’t think of a better place to play!
Beautiful views of Placenta Canyon and San Gaberial Mtns
Great layout with a lot of elevation changes. Greens were pretty stressed with recent heat lots of divot marks.
Golfing at the Ranch...
Probably so far.....the best golf experience in Los Angeles.
After paying $40 on GolfNow, we arrived at the (Robinson) Ranch and did a bag drop. The service was great.
In the pro shop, found out the round also included a token for a small bucket! Bonus!!
The staff was extremely nice and showed us to the first tee. We played the mountain course. there is also a valley course.
Even though it was 104degrees, the wet towels, and plenty of water every 3 holes made it a great experience. The carts included club/ball cleaning - which I love bc it just helps maintain the bag.
The fairways were gorgeous, as well as the greens....both really well maintained even though the course lines the mountains of Santa Clarita.
I would gladly drive out to Santa Clarita to experience these beautiful courses again and again.
Oh....and finished a great, fun round with a beer at the bar, plus I recommend the chicken wings....ask for Insanity Sauce! LOL
Love this Game.

People make the difference!
Private Country Club experience at Muni rates.
Fairways a little burned from the heat, but the super friendly staff makes for a very enjoyable experience.
I won't play Angeles National because of their nasty staff... and I will gladly play Robinson Ranch because of their people!
Great course to play in Santa clarita
Great deal for your dollar!!! Course in great shape and will play again.
Great course, but not a very welcoming staff.
I played with a friend on Sunday afternoon, and was expecting a "private club" like experience as it describes on their website. We arrived 20 minutes before our tee time, and we were greeted by chaos. The staff in the pro shop was not very friendly and seemed stressed out about a tournament that was going on, and not too concerned about our basic questions. The theme continued with the cart staff as they were short with us and made us feel stressed out and hurried. Once we got out on the course it was great and we were able to put all of that behind us. Overall, I would play there again, but I guess not with such high of expectations.
Expensive but good
I was lucky to get a great deal on GolfNow as I was a single ball and landed up at the course on time...from thre everything was just great..nice course..nice people and a good course.
beautiful course
One of the best public courses in SoCal. Greens weren't in perfect condition, but still ok. Gorgeous setting, tough challenging track. Friendly staff. I showed up 45 minutes late and they were super chill about it, and just let me jump on whenever I was ready. Cold water every 3rd or 4th hole, which was super nice in the 98 degree heat. Nice putting area where they don't mind if you chip a lil too. Definitely one of my fav courses in SoCal, and I've played them all. Valley course way tougher than mountain, but both are beautiful. great pace of play for a friday too.
Good Shape for Summer
Played a round at 1 PM on Thursday. Pace was relatively slow given the time, but it was one of the $40 hot deals so all considering it was a good round.
The greens were in very nice condition and the course wasn't too dried out considering it is the middle of summer.
Have played RR many times and it continues to be a favorite spot of mine.
A resort feel, but needs GPS.
I played the mountain course from the blue tees for my first time on Friday. The course is in great condition. There are lots of rolling fairways which is somewhat of a bummer because you can have a great shot off the tee, but still be penalized with an awkward downhill and/or side hill lie, or worse yet, over a cliff that I was unable to see from the tee box. My primary gripe was that for a course of this caliber with lots of blind shots, cut out fairways and elevated/dropped fairway pads, there was no GPS on the cart. I asked the starter who took me to the tee box if he had a yardage guide but he didn't have one. There aren't many yardage markers from the sprinkler heads either. If you want to play with your driver, you will need to tee off from the Black tees. it is not a course where you will hit driver on many holes from the blue tees. The sand bunkers, of which there are many, were in excellent condition, with excellent puffy sand.
Disappointing value
I used to enjoy playing here but after my 5.5 hour round this past Sunday, sadly, it's going to be my last.
For a $100 green fee, I shouldn't have to play at such a slow pace, the marshall can't manage the players, the sand traps are full of pebbles and dirt...they once had sand. I play at courses, such as Angeles, because I can get through at a decent time on a well maintained course.
I like the layout of the course, has great potential, but is old and tired.
In general, they're good on promotion, service, but fail at delivery.
