Sand Canyon Country Club
About
The Valley is one of two 18-hole golf courses at Robinson Ranch. As the name would imply, the course is tucked into the Santa Clarita Valley next to the Los Angeles National Forest. California Sycamores, coastal live oaks, and stands of sage and chaparral blanket both golf courses. Scenic waterfalls further enhance the beautiful landscape and they also come into play throughout, most notably on the Valley's finishing hole. The Valley is the original layout at Robinson Ranch. It is not as hilly and plays more like a championship golf course than the shorter Mountain Course. Several elevated tees are incorporated into the design to take advantage of the stunning mountains views. The traditional layout combines both desert-style holes with holes that more tree lined. It offers an interesting variety of challenged including doglegs, sand traps strategically placed along the landing zones, and well protected, multi-tiered greens.

Very challenging course
My wife and I played this course and enjoyed it. There was plenty of narrow fairways. Pace of play could be bad, but we played in under 4 hours.
Worth the drive
Course was in good condition. Traps were wet and packed though. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Will go back
Valley Course: Fantastic!
I decided to take the 45 minute from drive up form LA to Robinson Ranch and play the Valley course yesterday for a beautiful day of golf... and what a treat this day turned out to be. If you are even considering playing at RR you must give the Valley course a try. When I arrived the staff was nice and they gave me a free token to hit balls on the range- which was kind of small but it was really nice to hit 20-30 balls before I teed off. The course was in great shape; the fairways were lush and green, the greens were rolling perfectly and true, and the views are spectacular. It plays similar to a desert course, but the conditions are much greener and far better than any desert course I've played. Elevated tee boxes made this course very fun to play along with the large deciduous trees. This course can test your game, but it can also be very rewarding. Good tee shots can result in birdies and solid pars. Poor tee shots can easily result in double bogey. I really enjoyed the water features on some of the holes (small waterfalls and creeks were refreshing to see in the mountainous landscape). No hole is similar and seemed to be tucked away so that you could only see your hole and not everyone else on the course. There are a handful of blind shots that turn into doglegs so be careful off the tee. I loved playing this course, and if it wasn't as far away, I'd join as a member hands down. Find the hot deal on the weekend rates, and it will surely be worth every penny. What a golf fantastic course!
The best public course in the area
I can't speak highly enough about Robinson Ranch. Great staff, beautiful complex, but most of all a great golf course.
For a public course, it puts many private facilities to shame with the quality of the fairways and greens. Every hole was in great shape from tee box to green.
It's a challenge for high handicappers but its not unfair.
It's 100% worth the trip out there and I'd highly recommend it to all
Great Course!
Very challenging, interesting course. Took longer to play as we often had to hit provisional balls and look for others. Great course!
Course is in great shape but boring
This course was in great shape but all of the holes are similar no real exciting holes. Pace of play was very slow this course overall was boring.
bring extra balls.....
Enjoyed playing this course, even though it ate my lunch. I want to go back and try it without the wind.
Greens were in great shape. Very fast , but true.
Scenic views with groomed fairways and smooth fast greens
Enjoyed our play from the white tees on the Mountain course but would play the blues next time. Driving accuracy is rewarded with better chance for GIR's. Fairways are well groomed and greens are fast but true. The bunkers are in need of new sand .
Would give this course a 9 out of 10 rating and will be back.
Would also prefer crystal prism's on the flagsticks for laser finders.
fun course
The tee box markers could be more professional maintained or upgraded. They look old and weahtered
WOW
This course was amazing, me and my friends played the mountain course. Challenging to say the least but the fairways were outstanding to hit off of and the greens were in excellent condition. Staff was great and for the value to play at a course like this i'll definitely be back again!
very challenging course. may be too hot to play in summer.
visually very intimidating, lot of blind shots. green in excellent
condition, fairway in great shape too. I really think it will be too
hot to in the summer. VERY CHALLENGING COURSE.
excellent track, in great shape, nice greens
Had a great time at Robinson Ranch. Was extremely windy so it was tough for me to gauge how the course actually plays. BUT the conditions were excellent and the hole layouts were challenging yet reachable. Will definitely play again.
This course pushes me to the driving range.
I'll be back. Staff are courteous. Course is in very good condition. I lost but I enjoyed the challenge.
Great course great shape
Had a good time playing this course, course was a little short but no too many places to miss. Course was in great shape and the staff was very friendly, definitely recommend to give this course a try
Valley Course
Course was in good shape. the day we played it was cold and even rained a little bit. Really need to try to keep the ball in play here. if your not familiar with the course buy the book, it will come in handy. My only complaint was that the greens were very hard. A couple of times i couldnt hold the green with a 9 iron. They did roll very true though. All in all a very nice place to play
Challenging course set to a absolutly georgeous backdrop
Have played both courses and found them to be challenging yet fair. The only short coming especially for the first few times is that the course has no book or lay-out markings of any kind so you will find yourself zipping down the cart path and back scouting some of the holes.
Best public golf course in the area
We arrived just as a big tournament was ending. We thought the day was ruined. But the staff was still very friendly, helpful, and patient with people wanting to check in. The starter escorted us to the first tee box on time, offered towels and other helpful information about the course. The pace of play was just at 4 hours which is remarkable for a Sunday afternoon. Our experience was unmatched by all the other courses we have played. Robinson Ranch is by far the model course I wish others would try to emulate.
staffs are very friendly
good course and staffs are friendly. you need some extra balls.
Great Course!
I love this place. Great pace of the game is most important. I would rather pay a little extra $20 and get a better course and pace of play. The staff is okay, for some reson they dont let you take the carts to the parking lot. That's the only bad thing.
