Sand Canyon Country Club
About
The Valley is one of two 18-hole golf courses at Robinson Ranch. As the name would imply, the course is tucked into the Santa Clarita Valley next to the Los Angeles National Forest. California Sycamores, coastal live oaks, and stands of sage and chaparral blanket both golf courses. Scenic waterfalls further enhance the beautiful landscape and they also come into play throughout, most notably on the Valley's finishing hole. The Valley is the original layout at Robinson Ranch. It is not as hilly and plays more like a championship golf course than the shorter Mountain Course. Several elevated tees are incorporated into the design to take advantage of the stunning mountains views. The traditional layout combines both desert-style holes with holes that more tree lined. It offers an interesting variety of challenged including doglegs, sand traps strategically placed along the landing zones, and well protected, multi-tiered greens.

Robinson Ranch Valley Par 5 18th Photo submitted by hacksalot03 on 12/29/2012
Great features, challenging but not frustratingly so!
Robinson Ranch is very close to LA, but seems like a world away! I played the valley course in the mid afternoon as a single. Play was quick considering I was behind a threesome and a foursome. Never playing this course before I wasn't looking to pass anyone, prefering instead to soak in the beautiful surroundings. The topography was varied... many great downhill drives coupled with difficult uphill stretches. Local knowledge would have been valuable as several holes had some surprises that had I known, I would have played differently! No cart GPS... But that was the only negative. Enjoy!,,
This course is kept in great condition.
This was my first time playing this course on 04/18/2013. I have played probably 75 courses in my life. This is on my top 3. This course is so well maitained. The layout is challenging. The scenery is great. I can't say enough. I will be back on a regular basis.
Impressive course. Beautiful views. Impeccable Greens. Glad I played this course.

beats a 6 hour round @ a city track...
Got a great deal on Golfnow.com. Although the course was not busy, the starter was all uptight about putting my two some with a couple of uptight rich guys to make a four some. When the CE0's got a look @ us on the 1st tee, they asked us to go on ahead , we happily obliged them. Despite having another two some ahead of us, and the dreaded high handicap elitist CEO two some behind us, we never saw each other all day! Phew! 3 1/2 hours later we were done with our round and got to wave a friendly good day to our CE0 friends as they loading their clubs into their Maserati in the parking lot. The course is narrow, and the greens are fast and pure. A great day of golf!
Great forgiving mountain course
This is a great course with numerous elevated tee shots which bring a different feel from your ordinary flat public courses. Greens are always in great shape.
Great course
The greens are fast, the fairways are narrow and if you miss a fairway you're most likely in trouble. But it's so much fun to play a challenging course like this! The staff is great. It would be nice to have GPS on the carts for the money, but other than that it's a great place.
Good challenge, good shape, friendly staff, good value at $59
My first time playing in Califoria, The staff was welcoming and corridal, I hit a small bucket of balls (30) on the range but the distances seemed to be off the mark. As a single I was paired up with two great guys with low handicaps who have played the course several times and they helped me navigate the course. Visually very scenic with mountains in all directions. Big elevation changes throughout the course, and I was playing the Valley course, one can only imaginge the Mountain course. The course condition was good, a little dry maybe, with tight lies in the fairways and around the greens, I was in only one bunker on the first hole and the sand seemed to have a bit ground up mountian side sand / dirt in it. The rough was not rough at all very short and easy to play out of. the greens roled smooth and true around 10 on the stimp . My cart ran out energy on the 12th hole, my playing partners called the club house and they deliverd another cart to me by the time I tee'd off on the 13th. Had a great time on a challenging course, good value booking with GolfNow at $59 but would not play at regular rates at $100 to play this cousre . Beautiful club house and a good lunch menu with reasonable rates. Had a great day.
This course has great features
I played on Easter Sunday. It was nice to get a discount from this website. For detailed course reviews, pictures, tips, and maintenance alerts go to the Greenskeeper online golf community located on the web.
Superb Layout and Challenge
Great layout with terrific challenge. You may read my entire review with photos if you see greenskeeper online community.
Excellent
The experience was good from the time i rolled into the parking lot. Rick the GM is very we discussed memberships there. The people in the pro shop are extremely courteous. The Valley course is pretty challenging I started from the blue tees but moved to the whites on the back should of played them from the get go. It was just difficult due to the two some that I was playing with was playing from the gold tees. Course is very demanding shot wise and the greens are fast and much straighter than they appear. Only negative was the lack of shade.
What poor condition for such a solid track
Love these two courses at Robinson...just dont like the playing conditions or brutally slow pace of play.
ps...no cart girl..no course marshall
Great Course
Really challenging and could be frustrating for newer golfers. For me the scenery was just spectacular and worth every penny to see the sites this course has to offer. It's like a dessert tour included on your round. Beautiful sights and wild life.
Challenging
Keeping it on the fairway is the name of the game on this course. Little to no room for error as anything off the fairway is in a snake hole or cactus patch. Greens aren't tricky but the sand traps and water are well placed to keep the challenge alive. Fun track to play.
Fun Course
Great course with awesome views. The staff was excellent and the course was in great shape
Great course. Great staff. Classy operation.
A bit more expensive and a longer drive than we usually do for golf, but it was a great experience,. Very friendly staff, attentive and personalized service. Course is in great shape, especially the fairways. Recently aerated greens, but that didn't impact our play much as it had been about a week since the punching.
We will put this one on our watch list and look forward to taking our friends there.
This course made me to enjoy nature and golf at the same time
Very good course. Challeging and peaceful at the same time
Would play again
Got paired up with a twosome and single. The course is in very good shape for this time of year. Greens are still healing from being punched last month. Some where slow and others very fast. Front 9 was about 1hour 45min, but after the turn we had to wait for every shot, almost 3hr back nine. A little over 4.5hr round.
Hit the Blacks!
If you want a challenge play the black tees on this course. You must be long but not mega-long. Course is fun, the greens are very hard and do not hold well. Plus on a hot day like we played your ball will carry farther than usual. Great experience!
Where's the Marshall?
This could have been a great experience. Friendly and helpful staff before we teed off, but the pace of play was soooo slow, due to no sign of a marshall. They have lots of stations at the driving range, however, they really need to upgrade their shabby mats, or better yet, skip the mats. Fairways and greens were average for this time of year, price was good.
Great setting,well keep good challenge
The pro shop was efficient and friendly. The practice area was good. The rangers were friendly and informative. The course was challenging but fair. The views spectacular.
