Sand Canyon Country Club
About
The Valley is one of two 18-hole golf courses at Robinson Ranch. As the name would imply, the course is tucked into the Santa Clarita Valley next to the Los Angeles National Forest. California Sycamores, coastal live oaks, and stands of sage and chaparral blanket both golf courses. Scenic waterfalls further enhance the beautiful landscape and they also come into play throughout, most notably on the Valley's finishing hole. The Valley is the original layout at Robinson Ranch. It is not as hilly and plays more like a championship golf course than the shorter Mountain Course. Several elevated tees are incorporated into the design to take advantage of the stunning mountains views. The traditional layout combines both desert-style holes with holes that more tree lined. It offers an interesting variety of challenged including doglegs, sand traps strategically placed along the landing zones, and well protected, multi-tiered greens.

Mountain Course has great views.
Recently punched greens rolled very well and were consistent and true.
Fairways were in great shape (90 degree rule).
Several were roped off, understandably so.
The mountain course was beautiful, great challenge for new golfers.
Wonderful staff from the first encounter at the course. This was our first time playing on this course and we are looking forward to returning soon.
VERY NICE
The Mountain course was in amazing shape. It was very challenging and you must hit your spots, but the course was in fantastic shape and the greens were rolling fast and true.
Playing the Mountain Course in the Wind - Yikes!
The course was in excellent shape! The greens were perfect and the fairways and tee boxes pristine. The winds picked up and were gusting at 20 mph most of the day making it much more difficult to keep the ball in play and score well. Recommend you leave the driver in the bag and be smart about where you place the ball off the tee - otherwise your errant tee shots will cost you dearly.
This course has great features.
This golf course was beautiful and great features.
Round was cut short because they scheduled a college cross country event on the golf course and didn't offer incentive to stop playing.
The course was made less enjoyable by making it "Cart Path Only."
Great Layout, Great Condition
Mountain course has challenging layout, was about 5 weeks after re-seeding and green aerification and could not drive on fairway. The fairways were like carpet and the greens were looking very good, consistant and smooth. The course had been watered to and extreme degree and was very wet in many places. Overall a great course and in great condition.
played the mountain course; challenging but very playable.
Great course and super value with the golfnow discount!
2 Courses in Great Condition!
Frequent player at Robinson Ranch. There are 2 18 hole layouts that can challenge players of all skill levels. Fantastic scenery. Staff is Great!! A must play in the LA area.
Members of a private golf club and Robinson Ranch is equal at a fraction of the cost
Beautiful setting, excellent condition, fast play, good practice facilities, gorgeous clubhouse, excellent food. On par to a private country club without monthly dues!!!! Great value
IF YOU LOVE A CHALLENGE...
I've always wanted to play RR. Finally got the chance. It was all I expected and more. I'm a 9 handicap but my driver can be a little erratic. The course layout made me go conservative off the tee & keep my driver in the bag in order to ensure I shot my average.
I was surprised at how nice everyone was. Customer service is nonexistent these days. They are keeping the facility in top shape despite the economic slowdown. That shows the management really knows what they're doing. Cudos to the whole staff.
One of the courses was being worked on when I went, but I didn't even deduct for it in my review because they do such a great job managing the facility its a wash. If you want to play quality greens and fairways, they have to maintain them at some point!
Go play and enjoy. Remember, keep it in play :)
Good views on back nine
I played the Mountain course and overall was disappointed. The staff is friendly enough but lacked any marshal's on the course. We had two groups jump in front of us - one on the front nine and another couple on #10 who played the hole then as we were set to tee off came back to the tee and played it again because it was too slow for them.
The greens had been punched the previous week but were in surprisingly good shape, however, the rough is not only a yard off the fairway but extremely deep and next to impossible to get out in decent shape for an average player.
good golf course but little disappoint~
it was over 100F degree hot day around noon play but we can't drive the cart inside fairway so it was like almost walking all the way 18holes.. the course desn't have much shade and woods.. walking under the sun.. we didn't know until we got there that we can't even bring cart in the fairway~
Great service and golfing experience
Although my original booking was for the Mountain course, I was approached by the attentive staff to play the Valley course. Since I had arrived rather early, the friendly staff went out of their way to take care of me. It was a great round, the greens were fabulous and the fairways plush.
Keep up the great work of staying a cut above the competition!
Great!
Excellent service, beautiful courses, well maintained green.
If you stay in north LA or Palm Dale, Santa clarita, I guess this is the best choice.
Beautiful Views
Beautiful golf course near home with a great staff!
Fantastic
Took a day off to play at this course. Obviously it was a great idea. The course was simply fantastic regardless of my game. The fairway condition was pristine, and every hole was interesting to play for challenge. I would definitely play here again some time in the future.
Always a treat to play
I rarely get to make it out to RR due to distance and the restrictive rack rates. Was fortunate to find a great rate here on Golfnow. The service was excellent as usual. I got there a couple hrs early to possibly eat and warm up and the starter gave me an unexpected range token and allowed me out early on the Valley course...extremely cool of them. That alone is worth a thumbs up. I've never played Valley side and can see why it's the more preferred 18. Conditions were excellent with a very good variety of different looking holes that require players to think about how to approach them. I was fortunate to be paired with a really cool guy who was a regular that offered helpful advice from the tee box. As a first time player, this Valley course reminded me a lot of Valencia C.C. without the "clown holes". The quality service and first rate conditions of a private club at a reasonable price...thanks to Golfnow. I look forward to booking another round here soon.
