Must Play In SoCal
This place oozes wealth from the time you pull up to the valet and there are Bentleys, lambos, and ferraris sitting around everywhere. I was told people say this is the pebble beach of south California. It's not quite to that level but a very nice course and must play. Tee times can be quite pricey in the AM ($400 or more). But you can get a pretty good deal at $200-$275 after lunch. They have brand new 2022 club cars which are nice and they do have the "shark experience" on them. I played the north course from the tips with 25 mph winds which was a huge mistake. It was one of the toughest courses I have played and my score was brutal. Beautiful layout. High elevation with ocean views on almost every hole. For low handicappers, the north course is definitely more of the tougher "players course" - it plays about 500-600 yards further from the tips than the south course. I personally felt I liked the south course better because I prefer a shorter more fun course and also love a few good ocean holes. Both are must plays though if you are in the Newport area!
Always my favorite course
Perfect day to play a round of golf at this beautiful course. The layout is great and green is very challenging! We had a lot of funs and will come back soon.
Great experience!
This is one of my favorite courses in Southern California. Wonderful views, friendly staff, great amenities and the course is pristine. Definitely worth the time and money.
Beathe taking!
The views were incredible!
The course was in top condition!
It was a very challenging expeience all around. definitely will return next year again!
This one of a kind course has it all
The old saying really applies here it doesn't get better than this. You constantly have a view of the ocean, it is so beautiful and luxurious really a treat
The North Ocean Course
Absolutely the best round of golf for me this year. The course was in great condition, the staff was amazing and my guests and I had a wonderful round of golf. You have to play this golf course!!!
This place is killer
Difficult track, absolutely insane views. Literally not an ugly place to stand on this entire golf course. Really tough greens. #17 is the most beautiful I’ve seen in my life and I’ve played all over the world. Only gripe would be price, but hey, it’s Newport Beach real estate, and this was not a cheap course to build (or maintain) so I get it.
Fantastic course
Fantastic course!!. You don't have to waste your time in other golf course. This is your course. thank you !!
One and Done
I had some high hopes for Pelican Hill. My wife and I had a 8:25 AM tee time, so we arrived an hour early to warm up. Low and behold, the range was closed until 09:00 AM. It would’ve been nice to have known that beforehand! There also weren’t any nearby putting greens to practice on. I asked one of the starters, who said the putting greens were near the first tee, which was about a two minute card ride away. Since we were there so early, we couldn’t head to the first tee until the starter gave us the cart key. We decided to walk around the complex a bit. It was nice, but nothing spectacular. The only place to eat was a little cafe, which had a very limited menu. It was also staffed by a lone employee, who was actually very nice. Once we got to play, the views were pretty amazing throughout the course, which was in pristine condition. The weather was starting to heat up in the afternoon, but there were no watering stations anywhere on the course. The beverage cart came by when we were on the front nine, but there was nothing to eat or drink on the back 9. For the amount of money I spent to play this course, I would have expected more amenities. Nothing special, just minimally a few water stations,
Outstanding condition given the drought
I was expecting to see at least some course damage due the ongoing drought. But every tee box , fairway, and green were in excellent condition. Pace of play was not horrible at about 4.5 hrs.
Nice Course but Expected Bettee
We played this course on a Saturday. The layout and course amenities are excellent. However, the greens and bunkers were not perfect. The greens were full of divots and spike marks that made the greens roll untrue. Expected better from a course at the cost point. Bunkers do not look like they had been groomed that day. Also, the main putting greens was closed so no putting/pitching warm up. Pace of play was slow as we had to wait on the 8th tee box onward. They did not have a marshal keeping play moving. The views from the course was spectacular so it is worth a one time visit. But at the price to play did not correspond to the conditions of the course so I likely would not replay as I can play other courses in SoCal in better condition at a lower price.
Best course in the area!
Always want to play this course if the price is right. Except pace is a little slow due to the group in front of us, everything is perfect. Will come back.
