Riverwalk Golf Club
About
A collaborative effort by Ted Robinson Sr. and his son has resulted in a most scenic championship layout. The championship 18 meanders through mature eucalyptus trees, tall palms, and majestic oaks. Sparkling ponds contrast with the dozens of white sand bunkers and the emerald green, Bermuda grass fairways.

9th Hole Mission Photo submitted by canyonman59 on 12/06/2012

Great venue, has 3 nines which helped pace of play since I played on Saturday . The greens were awesome , fairly fast with lots of break and undulations. The bad news were the fairways, lots of bare ground so moving the ball to grass was permitted. The bunkers were not up to par, mostly dirt and hard packed.
Fun little course
Course has a nice layout. I would definitely play better here the second time around. Friars/mission was o.k. Lots of fairway under repair. Greens were excellent which made it more than tolerable. I would play here again
Great Twilight Value
Course is centrally located in San Diego so easy for all 4 of us to meet at the course from various work locations and tee-off at 3:00pm. Such a great deal at just $29.00/ea, including cart. We were skeptical about being able to finish 18 holes before dark, but we were able to finish in 4 hours. Fun afternoon!
Riverwalk - decent track, close to downtown, very slow and busy
First thing, when you play here on a weekend, you have to expect a 5 hour round. We played as a 3 some, behind what seemed to be the slowest 4some on the planet, They were 2 full holes open in front of them after only 7 holes. While they stopped at the halfway hut for food between 9's we jumped out in front of them. They never caught us the rest of the day despite us still waiting on every shot. Pace here it's generally slow due to volume. Enough about pace of play.
Conditions - San Diego has been in a drought lately so the fairways and rough have bare patches. The greens ARE FANTASTIC, even though they had been punched recently, they recovered and rolled true.
Value: Decent. We paid $60 including a cart, so that was a good price, but I'd gladly pay more for little to no waiting. There are no marshalls
The longeest day
11:15 tee off done at 4 :15 this felt like i was at work looking at my watch over and over again
Good Day Golfing
De used to play this course before leaving San Diego. Played Riverwalk 3 years ago and it was well kept and challenging. The Friars is lacking upkeep and apparently going to be developed so no investment into maintenance. Greens were in good shape. Enjoyed the Presidio very much. In better shape than Friars.
How to ruin a golfer day
This was the worst experience I have had at Riverwalk golf course, I played 2 holes in 1:15 minutes I guess the starer didn't know what to do.
Riverwalk should be called Swamp Crawl
Course was in terrible shape, Fairways had little to no grass. Had to place my ball onto grass when balls were hit in the center of the fairway.
Pace of play was terrible. Took 2.5 hours to play the front nine Friar, and 2.5 hours into the back nine Mission we skipped the last four holes.
At the turn the starter put a single player between us and the foursome ahead of us.
Bad experience.
Originally I booked Presidio/Mission but at the time of check in I was told to change to Friars/Presidio.
Friars course fairway condition was critical.
I will not play anymore at Friars course.
Mission course is good.
Friars course was dirt and muddy
I've been going to this course for over ten years and it was in its worst condition. Friars course was poor and would not recommend Wanted to ask for my money back on that course
Used to be a Great COurse
Riverwalk used to be a great course. Unfortunately it has gone downhill. The fairways are starting to resemble goat pastures. The pace was really good and the staff very friendly.
Friars course trash
I had played this course a couple times , but not recently. There are 3 different 9 hole courses. I started my front 9 on the "Friars" course. It appeared they quit watering the fairways , as there were dirt patches and hard pan everywhere. I was very dissapointed by the conditions of this course. My back 9 was on the "Mission" course. It was in much better shape , a nice layout with good greens. I used one of my "promo codes" for a $20 discount on a "hot deal" of $29 , and did not think it was worth the drive and $9 it cost to play !
Showing wear and tear
Until this round I hadn’t played the course in probably ten years and it is definitely showing a lot of wear and tear. The greens are in really good shape but the fairways, driving range and clubhouse are not. There is only one putting green and it was closed. One thing I’ve never liked about Riverwalk is that there is no short game practice area.
your review lost all credibility when you said great venue. This place is a dump!!!
