Palmer Course
1st time playing the Palmer course. Very nice, except for the greens!! Still remnants of the aeration that looked like it was done a few months ago - ball bounced all over the place when putting... ughhh. Outside of the greens, I enjoyed the T-boxes to the fairways.
2nd time at Saddlebrook and the apathy at the pro shop is still alive and well! If you don't like what you're doing, leave!!
Arnie Would Be Proud
I'm sure that Arnie probably played here in the past and really enjoyed it as I did. $35 to play this wonderful course even in the hot, hot, hot summer is great. Even though the course was being airrated it was still in great shape. greens a little slow to be expected. Fairways and tee boxes were excellent. I practically had the course too myself as these old farts can't take the summer heat. I'm 64 and I have lived on the gulf coast for 30 years and at least there is almost always a warm breeze. I will come back to Saddle Brook and play the other course in the near future.
Not bad
They have been working on this course for about a year now they need to get done
Needs work
Some greens need work, they had temporary greens that they didn’t tell us about! Now they are charging $8 for valet parking and it took a while to get my car! Left a bad taste in my mouth, wont be going back anytime soon
Disappointing
Expected much better course is a lovely setting. Green first nine awful. Aeration was tercentenary but greens are gone in most places the back was a bit better.
Saddlebrook
Course layout was very nice. The condition was not so much. They recently were purchased by another company and will be undergoing a major renovation. I’m eager to see what it’s like when it’s complete
Saddlebrook palmer
Excellent layout with challenging well placed bunkers and ever changing lies.
Fun Old World Resort Golf
I really like this course because it's the closest course to Tampa with rolling hills. I'm a big fan of resort golf and Saddlebrook has the amenities to provide a country club style round without being an exclusive member. I usually enjoy myself a little too much when I play a round here. The pool bar is a nice place to relax before calling it a day. There's even a golden tee in the game room if playing 18 wasn't enough. I always look forward to my next visit.
Review
Best course I paled this year. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Most other courses in the surrounding Tampa area should pay close attention how well the grounds keepers work the course. If you want to play better then please paly here. Yours scores will improve.
Good work Arnie!!
Travelled 50 miles from Orlando area to play the Palmer course and was not disappointed!! This is a really nice layout with some lovely holes with just enough water in play to keep players on their toes. Course was in great shape including the greens which were slopey, true and fast enough. Would highly recommend
Ran down!
Saddlebrook courses used to be an absolute joy to play but something changed and the course is in terrible condition.
1. There are weeds everywhere, including the greens, fringes, tee boxes, etc.
2. The greens are extremely slow and some of them are unplayable to be frank. Mud patches on the greens every few holes. Golf balls don’t roll well through mud nor do they roll true. We had to pick up our balls and say this isn’t with it on some.
3. I don’t mind the red carpet treatment and having to valet my car but it seemed like overkill. Tip valet, tip shuttle driver, tip the guy who grabs your bag and then do it all over again when you get back.
Can be a little overwhelming/boarderline annoying for some.
4. No cart girl.
5. Fairways surprisingly not the worst I’ve seen but far from the best.
The only thing that we enjoyed was that it was Memorial Day and had a 3 hour round. That’s where the stars come from.
