The Links At Bodega Harbour
About
The Links at Bodega Harbour is conveniently situated along the Sonoma County Coast, only an hour from San Francisco and two hours from Sacramento. Its location perched above the Pacific also provides stunning ocean views. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.in 1978, the back nine was the original course before the front nine was added nine years later. Jones designed a traditional Scottish links layout complete with rolling fairways and fast, undulating greens. There are almost 100 bunkers strategically situated throughout as well as thick patches of native coastal rough that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The golf course is not long but it requires both skill and strategy. The final three holes are not only the most challenging, they also boast the most breathtaking views.

Beautiful views but not pebble beach like.
Very nice course fun to play with ocean and bay views. Course winds through a housing development which takes away from the otherwise wild location. Lots of elevation change and a true links style course no trees to speak of lots of wind, bunkers and tall grass. Play it if you can great value for your money!!!
Bodega Coop
Great course if you want to be challenged on the front 9. Some spectacular views of the Bay and Ocean. The course is in great shape. A few funky but fun holes. Weather is not always good, but the day we played, it was excellent.
Very slow
Cool overcast summer day by the coast. Bring layers to cope with wind and sun variations!
Very pleasant course, 2 or 3 somewhat quirky holes and many blind shots.
Only major criticism is the pace of play - 5 1/2 hours on a Sunday morning isn't really acceptable. I got the impression that this wasn't unusual
Weather is the key factor - snooty staff (with an exception)
The course was exceptionally beautiful. Greens were a tad slow but mostly due to early-morning moisture. I teed off at 7:00 AM and was done by 11. The gentleman the pro shop was downright snooty with me when I didn't understand a question that he asked. The guy that was out in the parking lot however was very supportive and offered to clean my cart and shoes for me and did everything to refuse the tip that I wanted to give him.
The golf was excellent. Got paired up with some very nice guys. Had a great time on my wife slept in. I hope to go back there as soon as possible! The golf was excellent. Got paired up with some very nice guys. Had a great time on my wife slept in. I hope to go back to bodega bay as soon as possible. On a separate note I've played this course before, and it was probably the windiest day I've ever played golf. I've heard that's not uncommon. Would probably make a lot of sense to check the weather report prior to playing.
Don't blow me down!
One of the guys working at the course told my wife when she said she hoped the sun would come out that it would not be a good thing. He was correct in many ways, the sun did come out and along with it came what seemed like a 30 mile an hour wind and a ten degree drop in temperature. Regardless of this we enjoyed our round here. The conditions were very good, the course was fun and challenging and the pace was good until the 16th hole. The 16th and 17th are walk only, you park your cart and hoof it for two holes. You return to the cart after the second or 17th hole. The 17th is a par 3 about 155 yards from the blue tees and the wind was so strong that I hit a 4 hybrid and still was just short of the green! We unfortunately ran into a group at 16 that looked like they waited for the twosome in front of us and had about a ten to fifteen minute wait before being able to tee off on all three of the last holes. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and would like to play the course again. The views are absolutely spectacular as the ocean is visible from almost every hole. The views alone are worth the price, the golf is a nice complement to your sightseeing.
Great course to play at least once
A really good golf course, recommend riding a lot of up and down fairways.when I played not much wind made it play easier.
Bodega Bay
Enjoyed our golf. Weather was cloudy with some sunshine & wind. Enjoyed playing with another 2 some. The course had a tournament going but the rate of play was good and we never had to wait after we were started. The course was somewhat challenging to all 4 of us, and the wind made it a little more challenging to keep track of the ball in the rough.
Overcast and Beautiful
I played 18 at Bodega yesterday with a good friend. They were able to put us out as a twosome, which is good because neither of us are going to be setting any course records. The day was overcast and slightly breezy but there was no fog and the sun crept through just enough to keep us warm. The course was maintained nicely and provided challenges that you don't see on many other local courses. Overall, an excellent day for an excellent price. We'll definitely be back to play Bodega!
This course is challenging and peaceful.
This course is beautiful, challenging, peaceful and very clean. Weather can be challenging, especially when it gets windy. Staffs were very friendly and courteous.
Windy day
Played here several times. Always enjoyed the course and the scenery. It was extremely windy today, which made the round interesting and challenging.
A little Taste of Scottland's Link
Just a Treat..... I have played Pacific Grove in Monterey, Halfmoon Bay Links In Halfmoon Bay, And Now Bodega harbor Links In Bodega Bay..... and I have to say that Bodega is one of the most fun / challenging courses I have played..... I'll definitely comeback now that I played the course for a pay back to the course. "Just a great experience with spectacular views."
beautiful ocean course
Course layout was very challenging with hills and elevated green.
Fog came in on the first nine holes (we teed off at 9am) and once we can see the course better, the view and the layout were simply excellent.
We played 10 days after course maintenance so green was slow and bumpy and the rate was discounted for this.
Great views
I'm going to start with the positive. The course was in great shape from first tee to 18th green. It has some very good challenges with excellent views throughout. A bit of a warning. The wind comes up in the afternoon and makes some of the holes very challenging.
Now the other side of the coin. First off the staff. The younger gentleman in the pro shop was great. No complaints there at all. He was nice, professional, customer service oriented and accommodating. unfortuneately he wasn't the only person there. The older guy was.... Well you get the point. He was so bad we actually put our clubs back in the car and started to leave.
As for the food. There is a snack shop attached to the pro shop and a restaurant across the parking lot that overlooks the ocean and 18th green. Unfortunately both closed early on the wednesday we played so we didn't get any food at the turn (no drink carts on the course) nor enjoy an after round drink and meal.
It's a true links course in great shape with spectacular views of the pacific. All at a reasonable price. For that I give it a 3.5 star rating. Just don't expect 4-5 star service like at other clubs.
Oh and another bonus. Look for the local "pet" bobcat on the 11th or 12th Tee. It came out after we rolled up and laced in the grass to watch us tee off. Sooo cool!
Beautiful Winter Day
Have played here over 100 times, but the weather was
about the best I ever experienced there. It made the hilly, windy layout even better. Greens, fairways and sand traps in excellent shape. I played with a stranger
and we hit it off great. It was his first time at Bodega
and he was awed with the course and and Ocean views.
great on the course
Bodega Bay is so beautiful I love playing at this course! The veiws are spectacular!
Bodega Bay
The course was in great shape and with there being no wind at all, it made it that much more pleasant and easier.
Great time
Course in great condition, windy to begin with but settled down after the turn. Great round had by all, will go back with the deal we got !!!!
Pluses and minuses
Pluses: Ocean views (except see below), unique holes (see below), well designed greens in good shape and rolling fairly true.
Minuses: Unique holes--like 18: a par 4 with blind tee and approach shots (unless your drive is positioned left and relatively long), a par 5 that needs a full (incorrect) diagram at the tee box to convey the driving target (don't aim over the red tees from the blue tee box as it advises), beautiful ocean views UNTIL you actually get to play right along the coast on 16 and 17 where the ocean is completely hidden by a continuous tall dune, greens that look like mine fields due to pig golfers not repairing their ball marks, no sand and seed containers on the carts, and my number one pet peeve--slow play with no marshall. Overall, I enjoy the course. Despite a few odd holes, the design is interesting and thought is required at most tee boxes to choose a club and landing area. It's not an easy walking course by any stretch. The drive from most locations is not short, but it is very scenic.
Course is in excellent condition!
A perfect day of golf on the Sonoma Coast! Great fairways, challenging greens, and beautiful views from every tee box.
The greens definitely get your attention
This is a fun course to play. While it's challenging, it presents great opportunity for thoughtful play. The scenery can't be topped. The employees are friendly and welcomiing.
