Cherry Island Golf Course

If you haven't played this course before it is really a challenge. It seems 60% of your shots are blind shots where you can't see the ball land and it becomes difficult to find your ball. Also, many of the signage for the holes is gone or graffitied, so I accidentally played the wrong hole. Also, on the first tee I was playing down the wrong fairway because the layout

Cherry Island is a good public course that is maintained well for the amount of play. We are a foursome and play weekly around Sacramento. Although Cherry Island is not near any of us, we get out there a couple times each year. It was a great day for golf, good weather and we got off in time. Only drawback the whole day was the threesome ahead of us thought they were on the PGA Tour and waited forever to tee off each hole. So we were on the tee with them on nearly every hole.

This course is either in really good shape or horrible shape. Right now all greens are pinched and sanded, fairways and first cut are horrible. I would give a few weeks before playing again.

Always a fun layout and was in good shape. Pace was slow due to a 4some that had no concern for anyone else on the course.

Staff was great.

The greens are too soft. Every approach shots would make large and deep divots. Because of the soft greens, shoe marks would leave many indentations. Make the greens firm and fast please. Also, the tee boxes will need lots of help.

It's a good track.

Trees on left side of 2 need trimming.

Trees on left side 18 need trimming.

Trees on left side of 9 and in creek bed need removal.

Will not make the holes any easier just more fair to all.

First not enough buckets for the range, you’ll have to birddog one, bunkers where the best I’ve seen them in, in a long time, hole #5 no racks at all #10 small bunker 2 racks, as all the other courses in the area but not as bad over watered, at least they’re trying to improve the pace of play but when they offer discounts everybody comes out, but the great kicker that I like is they had enough carts, with 2 mini tournaments off and running. Kudos to management!!!!!!

Over all, I would recommend this course for any golfer who wants to play a challenging course for a reasonable price

First, I do have to say Thank You to the Pro Shop staff and for the golfer that returned my lost 6-iron. I was able to retrieve the 6-iron that I left on the course.

As for the golf course, (I play here once a month), it needed maintenance and upkeep. Some teeing areas looked sloppy and it just looked like it hasn't been maintained in half a week. Weeds were growing in places that should be seen and fixed. The greens had a lot of ball marks. Golfers are not repairing ball marks. I repaired on average four ball marks per green.

Great to play on a course where many of the holes are hidden from the tee box. Really need to strategize to play this course. A lot of fun. But the grounds are getting way to much water.
