Not happy
Didn’t appreciate being bumped backwards a few tee spots all because I was a single and finished in darkness. Noticed they allowed two groups of 6 players out back-to-back which slowed down play and yet I was bumped backwards? I should have either kept my schedule led tee time or allowed to play ahead of them. Not interested in playing again anytime soon!

fun course
Very wide fairways. greens and fringe are excellent. Some brown spots in fairways but overall decent condition, ball rolls forever.
Wrong day to play
Mather GC is usually a fun course to play. On the day we played they had been aerating the greens and fairways. The bumpy greens made putting a guess at best. The clods in the fairways made for some interesting bounces. We ordered post round margaritas for our foursome. They only had enough ingredients for three and the three that they did serve tasted much more like a lemonade than a cocktail.
I will play the course again and I do recommend it although I will confirm the course conditions first next time and definitely skip the mixed drinks and opt for a beer.

Course was under maintenance conditions were not great.
Major aeration of course. Not just greens.
Greens were arrayed with much of the course. Several of the fairways were not playable. Too muddy from plugs everywhere. On 12 I lost a ball in the fairway. Could not find it. Too much mud. Recommend spending your money somewhere else.

Back 9 was closed and the greens were recently aerated and sanded, making a lousy putting green. Neither was apparent when making reservation, so disappointed.
Back nine
I knew the course was aerated and knee that before I made the reservations.. How ever the back nine was closed and I had to play the front nine twice. That was bad.
One of my hometown favs
This course makes my top 10 fav courses in the Greater Sac area. Its not exactly the most challenging layout that you will encounter, but its no cakewalk either. If you are a long hitter, you can hit some of the par 5's in 2, and not to mention the driveable #13.
Not a lot of water and fairways are wide for the most part. Greens are fair and practice range is in great shape. I am always ready to play a round @ Mather.
