Empire Ranch Golf Club

Empire Ranch is in excellent condition and I would play it again tomorrow. Everything was well kept, the greens were in good shape. The fairways were green and the day was beautiful. We were fortunate to get a GolfNow rate and I shot an 80 which is my best of the year.

Played on Friday afternoon. Other than the first green, the greens were in decent shape. Pace of play was very good and we finished in 4:30. Course layout is challenging but fair for mid handicap golfers. I’d play again.

First time playing even though I live here because worried about how slow it could be. Pace of play was 2 hours for front , 2.5-3 for back. They top dress all the tee boxes and didn’t tell anyone, so you had to hit out of compete dirt or back up into rough. Greens were absolute trash, they don’t obviously take care of them much but the guys I played with said they weren’t like this two weeks ago lololol of course. Pretty sweet layout though. But with course conditions not worth $62 or 5 hour round. With what the greens are and the tee boxes , I wouldn’t recommend. May try again in a few months.

The course was very wet. 2-3 of the greens need attention they are very sparse on grass.

A lot of the greens were bad, and tee boxes were chewed up. Some parts are over water and some parts of the green are bare as well.

Starting in the back nine we waited every hole.

For the price, course is not worth $81.00

I play here often. The course conditions are not the best. Some of the greens are beat up. Bunkers are deemed ground under repair on a few holes on the back 9. They have been that way for a while. Just buy some sand. Some of the tee boxes and greens need attention.

Crab grass everywhere! Fairways definitely need some TLC. Bartender totally messed up our drinks, didnt taste great. Usually very happy with this course, currently not worth the $90 to play.

Range balls are junk which I understand because a bunch of dimwits steal range balls and take them to other courses or bring their own cheap balls they buy online. Range mats are not good but that range is so busy they just get trashed. Greens were soft and responsive and speeds were great but so many ball marks from excessive play on the soft greens left some bumpy putts. Other than that great course and a lot of fun, usually plays slow but had one of the first tee times and it went well, under 4 hours as a 4 some.

Course was in great shape, pace of play was a bit slow

The club pro-shop guy and starter, they are very nice 👍 and kindnesses. The course condition is good too.

Greens were in very good condition. Too many unfixed ball marks on the green and Tee Boxed needed attention.

I enjoyed the elevation changes and receptive greens.

The first hole has a downhill second shot to a guarded green. The finishing par 3 isn’t impressive when looking at the scorecard but is a very fun hole because of the major downhill slope. The course is fair with some well placed bunkers. Pace of play is good even on a busy Saturday. Greens had good pace and were in good condition.

I had a terrible experience with the pro shop. I called to add someone to my tee time and, after giving my last name, he said he didn’t have me down for that date. I realized I had forgotten to mention it was for tomorrow, not today. When I clarified, he sarcastically thanked me “for being so clear” and hung up on me. Concerned, I called again shortly after to confirm the booking. When I asked if it was booked, he mocked me by repeating “yeah, yeah” in the same tone, then curtly confirmed it and hung up again. I’ve never felt so belittled trying to handle a simple request. Extremely unprofessional service—I won’t be returning.

This course has been recommended a few times to me and I finally made it out there. I’ve got to see I understand the hype this course is well kept with a challenging layout but still gives you lots of opportunities to recover. One of the best courses in Sacramento for me. Can’t wait for my next round here.
