Rustic Canyon Golf Course

Always love playing Rustic Canyon.

Few things to improve the experience.

1. Range was closed, no reason given.

2. Pin location is marked by attaching a smaller flag on the pin at the bottom (front), middle or top (back). This is extremely hard to decipher from 200 yards out.

3. On the longest par 4 on the course where the play is to run a long iron up onto the green between the traps, there was 30 feet of hose pipe looped around a sprinkler head directly in the neck of approach into the green that caught two of our foursomes balls and left them 30 feet short of the green.

Rustic is an example of what you can do with smart design and a supporting municipality. They created a gem. The course design is fantastic, visually stunning at times the way they framed the greens, added defenses and yet kept them approachable and playable for all levels is astounding. The conditions are great, especially considering the number of players out there and the facility is easy and accessible. Its a tough walk, but not too tough and can really make you think about your short game. Bottom line is Rustic is fantastic and affordable. You wont find Country Club conditions or service but you will find a lot of people who love golf and dont have an attitude about it... Unless you're a SF Giants fan. But this is LA

First, if you tee off after 5:30, you can't take a cart, no range balls, and the putting green is taken over by a coach and a bunch of kids. Same kids go out of=n the course and take a long time to play. Not that much fun.

This is the closest to Links golf you can get in LA. Perfect course conditions. You can barely differentiate the fairway to the fringe to the green. Incredible.

This was the second time playing Rustic Canyon. I truly enjoy the course. The first time I tended to myself into trouble a lot. This round I had committed trouble spots to memory and kept out of trouble (for the most part). Expansive fairways with plenty of room to work yet the natural landscape is lurking to swallow your ball if you make a mistake or get overanctious. Definitely bring plenty of fluids to drink. The course is in a desert canyon and can get very warm with little opportunity to cool down. If you choose to walk the course it is relatively flat but quite long at somewhere north of 8 miles overall. You will know you've had a workout by the end of the round.

Excellent link golf course with large putting greens and few trees (thank goodness). This course is so well manicured and maintained every time I have played it year round.

Seniors can’t make it on some holes due to cart path only. Unaware of cartpath only due to the fact that it only happens twice a month. Had to stop at 10 cause father got too tired from all the walking he had to do on 10 with his bad knee. Staff was asked to turn off cart restrictions and we were denied.

This was our first time playing here. I’ll start with the course itself. The course itself is very nice. The man at the check-in clubhouse was not friendly at all. When I checked in he didn’t say anything. when I went in to check to see if we were up, which by the way we were, he looked at the tee box and said you’re up. He didn’t smile and didn’t care to Acknowledge us.

It was a pretty warm day and there were no cart persons. All that was available were a couple of standalone water stations. I guess had the guy at the clubhouse cared about his patrons maybe he would’ve mentioned that to us.

Our tee time was mid morning. There was a youth tournament a youth going on all day and twice we almost got hit. Not once did in Marshall come by.

Course is tough, but well worth playing. Greens as and fairways are in excellent shape. The greens were a bit slower than i’ve seen in the past, that may be a good thing.

Love this course. Never too busy. Reasonable pricing. Keep it in the fairways and shoot well. Greens are in great shape as are the fairways. One of my favorite courses to play!

They slowed the greens down not a fan. But still live course green were slow other were fast 6 3putts

The course was in very good condition and the pace of play was very good.

Really unique and challenging. yet fun. Mostly open off the tee with challenging approach shots and links still aprons/greens. Terrific spot.

Greens are slower than last year. Disappointing was looking forward to fast greens. The greens were the best part of this course until now.

Hard to beat….great layout, links style, generally more serious golfers rather than hackers you see in muni courses, friendly cart girl. Got to be my favorite public course in all of SoCal. If it was within a 30 min drive, I would play here all the time!

Heard much about this course and how nice it was and the course lived up to its reputation. Fun open links style layout with big undulating greens. Wide open fairways which were in great condition. Seemed to be a golfers golf course because it requires lots of forced carries and favors long hitters. Zach said it was well worth the drive to play it and highly recommends it. Only drawback was clubhouse itself. Barebones. Will play again for sure.

Last played here in October and the only thing I can complain about is the greens were a touch on the slow side for Rustic Canyon. Otherwise it was epic! Course is in fantastic shape the greens look unbelievable but like I said a touch on the slow side for Rustic but I’m sure as the wind and heat crank up they will be back to marbles on linoleum. It is still my favorite course. Enjoy!
