Great test of golf
You will need your a game to score well here. Poor shots are penalized. Greens are slower than normal but roll nice.
Only complaint is the cart path only on some par 4&5’s. Didn’t make sense as the fairways are dormant and dry Also the GPS would shut your cart down even if you were on the cart path. Considering the cart fee is $25 I wouldn’t expect as many restrictions.
Snack staff and availability was less than impressive.

Excellent golf course!
Gil Hanse created a gem of a course on a rugged piece of land.. I’ve played several links style courses, but this is one of the few that actually truly play that way. The fairways and run up areas to the green are firm and allow you to play low running shots into the green. The greens are large and extremely undulating. You can’t just throw darts at the pin, you need to shape shots against the contour to get balls close. The friendly staff and outstanding course layout makes this in my opinion a must play course.

Purest golf in Los Angeles.
The course is in great shape even though it’s been a dry spring so far. Greens are the most interesting I’ve played on in Los Angeles and really take their toll if you don’t plan out your approach. This is still my favorite course to play in LA and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

A Bit Too Hyped
I can see why Rustic Canyon, from a course layout standpoint, stands out from other courses, and is highly esteemed by many in the golf world. It is brutally challenging around the greens, unforgiving, unpredictable, and you're going to end up having to hit shots you have probably never hit before on any golf course.
Nevertheless, I think that this course is a bit hyped up. It's fun, challenging, and raw, blending nature and golf together, but I don't think it earns a spot in one of the top courses in So Cal.
It's a course that I get to cross off my bucket list, but not one that I would go out of my way to play again.

the greens are good
the course are good. the problem is you cannot drive the cart on some of the holes . it was very hard to walk from the cart and the fairway , it was hard to find out how far are you from the pin. you have to go back and forth to the fairway and find our how far are you from the pin and then go back to the cart to pick up the right clubs.

Beautiful course
Had a blast with my foursome. Course was really well kept. The carts had GPS screens which was awesome and always a nice touch to your golfing experience. I think the price is maybe a bit steep, if you get a cart, but seriously not by much and would definitely play here again. Walking is probably your best choice to play here because there are a few holes that are “cart path only” and depending on where your ball lies, you’ll have to walk a bit with multiple clubs in your hand and pick which is best there.
