Rustic Canyon Golf Course

Pay close attention to the pin placement, the greens have a lot of movement.

Nice day. Played poorly (usually a mid 80’s golfer). Played in the high nineties and still enjoyed the round. Hadn’t played in a monthe and used borrowed clubs. My putting saved me.

Nice course. Tough greens. Fairways could use some work. Winds were steadly blowing at 125 miles per hour.

The course is in great shape, greens are rolling good but my only complaint is that it’s too windy there! I’ve played 7 times there & all 7 rounds have been windy. My last round on 11/26/18 my 4-some had to quit on 11th hole. When putting with the wind, you putt it 1 foot & it rolls 15 ft. That’s not a round of golf!

The superintendent of this course clearly doesn't golf. The greens and collars were cut so fast that it was impossible to play. Multiple holes the pins were in locations that were you to miss a putt, the ball would continue to roll until you had 20-30 feet.

Greens are super undulated, so ridiculous speed cant work. Collars are mostly shaved so if you miss the green expect to hit from 35-40 yards away after your ball rolls forever. I hit a shot to about 6 feet on a par three, barely touched the downhill putt, and rolled literally 70 yards down the hole into the rough.

The overall shape of the course is nice, but they dont know what they are doing at all when it comes to maintenance and playing conditions.

Great course. Tough as the greens are sickening fast. Be patient and you will have a blast.

I have played this course a number of times and it is a terrific course and great value. Today, however, the course was poorly set up. Winds were 30mph with gusts to 40 or 45mph. Greens are always fast and were running over 10. The problem and why I am writing this review was the pin positions. 5 or 6 of the pins were put on top of ridges. Putt uphill to the hole, ball stops next to hole, wind blows the ball back to you and in some cases off of the green 60 feet away. Those greens and pins were un- playable. Think Olympic Club and the US Open. In these windy conditions, the superintendent needs to forget about positions A,B,C,D and put the pins where they are playable! Many real good shots were penalized by the pin positions.

I thought it was a great course. Unfortunately it was very windy! The greens were fast and pin placements were just diabolical. I think under better conditions I would have played better!

It warrants another attempt .

The course, staff and weather was perfect this weekend when we played Rustic Canyon. Our round was finished in about four hours which is great! I would recommend this to everyone especially if you have never played a links style course.

Excellent Gil Hanse design which goes up and down the canyon and offers wonderful links-like along the ground shot values. Challenging, well paced greens.

is up to the ' Cashier', I told him my name which is of Spanish origin, he wanted to know how to spell it, after a couple of attempts he got it which made him dismissive, I waited for 1 hour for that time, then was told it was unavailable, and only a threesome on the tee. He then said I could wait additional time. During the time I waited, other single player were allowed out. I feel I was treated with disrespect or with disregard.

As I drove into Rustic Canyon, the course looked flat, with wide fairways that seemed to blend together. I was pleasantly surprised that it played much tougher than it looked. There was a warm, 3 club wind that was a major factor in club selection, and the greens ran so fast that on a few holes the wind could take your ball right off. Several holes had carries off the tee of at least 150, perhaps 200 yards, so you had to make solid contact to avoid the desert scrub. Thankfully I played with a few regulars who offered important tips (the greens break towards the front gate). There wasn’t a Marshall on the course, and we were stuck behind a slow group, so it took far longer to play than it should have - 5 hours, but the beverage cart passed twice on both the front and back, so we were well hydrated in the 90 degree sunny weather. I would play this track again, and recommend it to others.

I was horrible, but it’s not the courses fault. Rode the blues, POP 4:45. It was a longer round, but this is a challenging course. We didn’t wait on many shots and it didn’t seem like it took that long. The tee boxes were level and had good coverage, fairways were green and lush. Not really much rough at this course. If you miss the fairway it’s hazard. Greens were good, hard and fast. I will be back and I will play better. Definitely recommend this course. Nice practice are, grass range, separate chipping area.

I play this course on a regular basis. Love it!! Tough course and always challenged. Unfortunately today there was a fire close to the back nine. So only played 9 holes however I’ll be back!!
