About
Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin sits just half an hour from Sacramento but the stunning landscape blanketed with thousands of live oaks feels much more secluded. In addition to the trees, massive granite outcroppings accent the course. It is both a visually stunning and formidable championship layout. The diverse topography is the focus, providing many challenges with the elevation changes and towering trees that line the narrow fairways. The rolling topography helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Wetlands come into play throughout the golf course, also serving as home to numerous varieties of indigenous wildlife. The golf course finishes with a tough hole, a long par 5 that is flanked by wetlands on both the left and right. Whitney Oaks G.C. also has a practice facility with a 15-station driving range, a putting green, and pitching area.

Very good condition, excellent greens
Late summer, but course is in great condition. Greens are in excellent shape. Very challenging course. Greens have a lot of slope and running fast, despite rather small in size. Power carts need upgrading--getting old in age. Fairways in very good condition--ball is sitting up, not down, and grass is green, and very few bald or burn spots.

Recommend this course to single digit handicap players
Nice challenging course, bring extra balls and keep your patient in check. I played a par five lay out in the back nine that I never experienced before ever!

Course condition
Trees growing out of rocks in the middle of the fairway, buy some chainsaws, make the course playable. Tree growth hasn’t been managed, Obviously the greenskeeper doesn’t play golf and understand tree growth blocking quality shots. Growth in the environmental areas is not manage very well can’t even see the green sometimes for a second shot. Greens were fair and in good condition, Traps have high lips and the green screw continues the rake the sand up rather than rake the sand down so the ball falls in a position where is playable

Not for Beginners...Bring lots of Balls
Played on a Friday afternoon (it was extremely hot). The bar area is excellent and it was filled with many locals. Great spot for a post-round drink. The practice area was very nice, but they need new range balls (many were severely damaged).
The course itself is for the intermediate/advanced golfer. NOT a beginner's course. I play often and find it challenging, but my buddy, who doesn't play a lot, really struggled. Don't bring many Tier 1 golf balls, you will lose them. The course is very narrow in places and has several forced carries. The carts are nice with GPS. Wish there had been a cart girl on the course for refreshments, but it was extremely hot that afternoon.
Overall, a good course with good amenities. However, I would not recommend to a friend because it is very challenging. You must bring your A game.

Played there about 2 months ago. All eight had Thunder Valley comps to play. 1/2 the players were comped the other 1/2 not so.
Was advised we would get free rounds later. Luckily I did not hold my breath.

A Beautiful, Challenging Course
Whitney Oaks is a beautiful course I love to hate. I've played Whitney Oaks several times and, although I've yet to break 90 and lose an average of 6 balls per round, it's one of my favorites in Placer County.
The pace of play on this particular day was terrible; it took over 5 hours to finish, which is unusual considering it was a weekday in the late afternoon.

Challenging course
I have no problem with the course - it was tough but, the pace of play by the 4-some in front of me was ridiculously slow! It really made the day tougher and less enjoyable.

Best in the area
Course is in prestige shape, Fairways&greens are true and fast, bunkers with smooth deep sand. I’ve been playing there since 2003 and it’s gotten better with the new owners, hardest course in the area by far.
