About
Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin sits just half an hour from Sacramento but the stunning landscape blanketed with thousands of live oaks feels much more secluded. In addition to the trees, massive granite outcroppings accent the course. It is both a visually stunning and formidable championship layout. The diverse topography is the focus, providing many challenges with the elevation changes and towering trees that line the narrow fairways. The rolling topography helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Wetlands come into play throughout the golf course, also serving as home to numerous varieties of indigenous wildlife. The golf course finishes with a tough hole, a long par 5 that is flanked by wetlands on both the left and right. Whitney Oaks G.C. also has a practice facility with a 15-station driving range, a putting green, and pitching area.

Round took almost 5 hours, tee'd off at 2 and barely finished with any light right before 7. A lot of dry spots and patchy areas around the fairways. Green are well pretty well maintained. Not a lot of room to miss off the tee, a lot of areas to lose a ball if you're not straight.

Enjoyable round
Reading the reviews I was expecting a challenging course and I got one. It would have been easier had I been playing with locals who might guide a few shots. I am a 11 handicap and shot 11 over so it was a good round considering the lack of course knowledge. The greens were in good shape, fairways rolled well, and as a single I was allowed to play through in reasonable time. A really nice round.

Very good condition, excellent greens
Late summer, but course is in great condition. Greens are in excellent shape. Very challenging course. Greens have a lot of slope and running fast, despite rather small in size. Power carts need upgrading--getting old in age. Fairways in very good condition--ball is sitting up, not down, and grass is green, and very few bald or burn spots.

Recommend this course to single digit handicap players
Nice challenging course, bring extra balls and keep your patient in check. I played a par five lay out in the back nine that I never experienced before ever!
