About
Whitney Oaks Golf Club in Rocklin sits just half an hour from Sacramento but the stunning landscape blanketed with thousands of live oaks feels much more secluded. In addition to the trees, massive granite outcroppings accent the course. It is both a visually stunning and formidable championship layout. The diverse topography is the focus, providing many challenges with the elevation changes and towering trees that line the narrow fairways. The rolling topography helped to determine the placement of the bunkers. Wetlands come into play throughout the golf course, also serving as home to numerous varieties of indigenous wildlife. The golf course finishes with a tough hole, a long par 5 that is flanked by wetlands on both the left and right. Whitney Oaks G.C. also has a practice facility with a 15-station driving range, a putting green, and pitching area.

Excellent course and good weather but SLOW round
I golf at Whitney Oaks at least a half a dozen times a year; in my opinion it might be the toughest public course in the Sacramento area. It’s a good layout and it’s relatively fair. Typically would give it five stars but the two foursomes in front of us were exceedingly slow and it took us about 5 1/2 hours to finish. Otherwise course was in good condition and it would’ve been an enjoyable round.

Great course
I played for the fourth time. It is a very challenging, well designed course.

Great Round
The course is in great shape players have to hit certain shots otherwise it could be a long day. The only problem I had was with locking the breaks on my cart. I spent the entire round trying to lock the breaks so the cart would not move forward or backward it was frustrating. This is an accident waiting to happen

Course is nearly dialed
Fairways were a great cut but a bit dry. My only real complaints were the greens were in good shape but could use a cut as they were a bit shaggy. Definitely lost some strokes with the inconsistent pace this caused. Secondly, on the front it was wide open for our group of four, no one right behind, no waiting for any groups ahead. On the back 9 however, it almost seemed like two groups had been dropped in front of us. A twosome right in front and a threesome in front of them, and the pace of play ground to a halt. Waiting 5-10 minutes a hole as a foursome behind twosome and a threesome feels borderline unacceptable. Not necessarily the courses fault per say but frustrating nonetheless, never saw a Marshall who may have helped with rate of play.

Rolling true
Course is in good condition, some fairways were dry, not much turf, sand traps need some work. Greens were in great shape. Fun course
