This course has an interesting layout nestled inside a housing development

Played after a rain, so it was cart path only. This made it really slow. Our foursome can be pokey, yet we waited on every tee box. First timers will lose multiple balls. One in our group lost 15, including straight balls that were hit “too well”.

Fairways dry. Dead grass. Greens good and a fun place to ply

So I will start with saying this....if you don’t shoot in the 80’s this is not the course for you. This course is beautiful and extremely unkind to anyone who slices or hooks at all. I felt like I had never played golf before. The bunkers and other hazards make the day very, very long and frustrating. However, the course is fantastic for those that want views; hills, elevation changes and greens that are anything but straight forward. It has all the appeal of a fancy private club with a laid back vibe. Pace of play was slow, no Marshall to move lagging groups along. But honestly, who wants a Marshall up your butt all day?!?? Overall I liked this course foe the challenges it presented and it’s beauty. I will for sure play it again now that I know what I’m in for. This is not a beginners course, so keep that in mind before you play.

Only problem was pace of play. Marshals didn't get things moving and it was a 5 hour round. That being said, great course and challenges and staff were top notch! Great GPS in the carts.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The course was in good shape and the greens were fast and true . Always a challenge, a true test of golf

Bermuda grass was pretty bad and wet cart was low on battery did request new cart and never brought to me.

They have let the trees and shrubs crowd the fairways. A good shot gets knocked down by the overgrown vegetation.

Greens to hard and don’t hold. Sand traps are a joke.

I’ve played there many times over the years but not interested anymore. Beware.

We had a very leisurely round of golf today. The layout tested our skills with us hitting fades, draws and occasional straight shot. Enjoyed our day.

A nice course wasted on poor management. Nearly a five hour round with a 5-some in front of us. The greens are beat up and the fairways are bare ground in several places. The pro shop is rude and unprofessional. The controls on the carts are ridiculous. If you go off the cart path, the damned cart goes 1 mph while you’re trying to get back on the cart path. The driving range is poorly managed, too. The operating hours are erratic.The ball dispenser jams frequently, or is empty. The balls are generally in poor shape. Either used up or mowed up. There is no walk clearance behind the mats. It’s a matter of time before someone gets hit with a club in the backswing. And, hitting off the turf is much like hitting off bare ground.

The pandemic has been a financial boon for golf courses. So, why is Whitney Oaks such a mess?

Just start over.

Punishing layout with multiple blind shots and narrow landing areas are typical of Johnny Miller designs but to combine it with terrible brown, rock hard fairways just make for a not very fun day. Otherwise decent shots roll off into trouble on this near unplayable tabletop. Please don't make winter conditions an excuse since other courses in the region cope far better. Can't even retrieve a lost ball in a scrubby ditch because it's likely to be marked off as ecologically sensitive. Had to play for a while behind a 5-some and pace of play is general is below average. Course owned by Thunder Valley Casino, which inserts annoying pop up audio ads into the cart GPS systems . They really ought to consider putting some of their gaming revenues into better maintaining this overrated track that fails to live up to its promise. Unlikely to return.
