Very poor condition due to maintenance
The Course is under heavy maintenance right now. It was not listed on the website as such. 2 of the holes are closed so they are trying to combine 2 other holes to still make it 18. They are going through replacing all the irrigation on the course so they are not really keeping up with the rest of the course and watering it. If you just want to get loose and hit the ball around a bit it's worth the $10 dollar fire deal but if you pay any more than that then you are wasting your money.
Don't hit into the sand... or what is supposed to be sand!
I can't believe the reviews that say this course is well-maintained. It is NOT in good shape and there is irrigation construction going on everywhere (they had 1 hole completely shut down and another just opened as we got there with sand all over the green). The greens are coming out of aeration and are OK, but the SAND TRAPS ARE HORRIBLE. There is maybe 1/4" of sand before you hit hardpan. I can't believe how many times I had severe trouble coming out of the traps. I suggest that you pick it clean... even on greenside bunkers. Long par 3's (many are 200 yards or thereabouts) and short par 4's. Know what you get before you go... and don't believe the "course is well-maintained" reviews!
Great experience
The course is in great shape. and the putting green were (true) fast.
A fun few hours...
I won't let my score taint my enjoyable day at Oakmont's East Course. Beautiful grounds, well kept greens and wonderful Sonoma County kept my spirits up as I tried to get out of the sand.
The course is usually in better shape than what I saw yesterday. The tee boxes and greens had been sanded recently but fairways were badly maintained
Fairways and tee boxes were awful. Greens really slow due to sanding.
This course had beautiful views!
Good course, very challenging for beginners like my group. We really liked it there. Great learning course really makes you think about club selection as it is a Par 3 and Par 4 only course.
short course.
not much to say kind of average. short course. not very well maintained.
Rude
Older Fellow in pro shop was grumpy. I said I had driven two hours to play the course. He replied "I'm not impressed"
No way to treat a customer.
Horn your short game!! Accuracy needed, but not required
What a fantastic course, to improve your accuracy, short game, and sand play. No saving grace for the hooker or slicer, too many roof tops to be had. Novice Beware...2 dozen balls should be enough for 18 holes. To help speed up play, just drop where you thought it could have gone....Lots of trees, deer, quail, rabbits, and giggles. Fun course to play, at any level ___We had an absolute BLAST!! going again next weekend
Beautiful course. Relaxing
Not a full size course, but a nice relaxing afternoon of golf. We will definitely return here.
Challenging Executive Course
18 holes, mostly par 3. Very well maintained and not busy at all. Great experience.
This course was good for short games and mid- range iron practice .
It is a executive course par 68. It is really good for practice on mid-range irons.
Great time as usual
Staff always very friendly it always a pleasure playing Oakmont courses.
This is a beautiful setting and a difficult "executive" course
I love to play this course because there are many difficult holes to challenge the "better" golfers. The deer have the right of way and add to the charm. The views of the coastal range is usually sharp and clear. The course is well maintained and the pace of play is usually excellent. I played yesterday in just under 3 hours but 31/2 is more typical. For the novice, the fairways are wide and spraying the ball is not too troublesome. For the better golfers, there are 6 par threes that are 170-210 yards. For the real "bombers" the course is too short since all the par 4s are 230-350 yards, with 310 the most typical.
A very nice long executive. Beautiful views and fairly easy playing.
Shorter than Oakmont North (with its par 5s), but much longer than your usual executive course. If anything, it's easy with few challenges. Nevertheless, with its views you can't go wrong - unless you get lost trying to find it. Just know that the entrance is on a side street to the left a little more than a half mile beyond the North course clubhouse. Look for the small green sign pointing the way.
The course is a favorite for the older residents in this retirement community - who often go out in foursomes, so I wouldn't recommend the course if you're in a hurry.
Nice and Relaxing
The short East course is a nice mix of easy and challenging. Perfect for the beginner to intermediate golfer. The greens were as nice as you'll find on a public course.
Great day of golf.
There were four of us in our group and even though there were players aheah of us and behind us, the speed of play was just fine.
It was a beatiful day of gold and this couse is fast becoming my best course to play.
Greens were still a little bumpy.
Good value. A fun little course! The course has a lot of long Par 3's which are well bunkered.
Great little course, great value
I got a fantastic deal for this executive course on GolfNow, and I'm glad I played here. Very well-maintained tee-boxes, fairways, and greens, although there were gale-force winds the day we played, and there were some sticks and leaves covering many of the greens. The course isn't particularly difficult, but it's a great place to practice your short game and gain some confidence in your drives. Recommended!
