About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Not much grass
Fairways need Somme help greens ok could be cut lower
Dodge, Duck & Dip
Staff is very friendly and able to assist with any questions you may have. Mark your ball properly, course plays like 18 holes of individual driving ranges. Little to no barriers to separate fairways so balls fly freely from hole to hole. Tee boxes & greens were in good condition, fairways were a bit patchy.
Considering the amount of other courses in the area, I personally do not feel like this is worth the cost or the risk of danger.
Not as good this time
I was disappointed in the amount of grass in the fairways. I played about a month ago and the fairways were in good shape and didn't lack grass. Hopefully the fairways gets grass back soon.Greens were rolling well.
Fun course
Good course very open. Not too difficult if you keep your ball in play. Would play it again sometime when I can get another good deal.
Worth the Hot Deal
First time I've ever played golf in under 3 hours and 15 minutes during the Winter in Florida. Pace of play was great! Rained earlier in the day and the course was pretty wet off the fairways, course needs better drainage. Really enjoyed the layout, thought the course was pretty tight. Tee boxes were in great shape, greens were too minus the ball marks. If there weren't so many ball marks, the greens would be in perfect shape for Florida Winter considering the amount of play this course probably gets. Will play again, especially when this course has any hot deals on the weekend. Very hard to find a course under $40 on a Sat/Sun. Don't know if I would pay the full price to play here with all the snowbirds.
My Kingdom for a patch of grass!
This was the first time I've played here in 25 years. The greens were recently sanded but were still receptive and rolled true.
The fairways, on the other hand, were lacking much grass at all. It's a nice layout but needs TLC.
Don’t waste your money
Goat run and. Horrible pace of play. Go get your teeth pulled before going there!!
Great place
We had a lot of fun. Course was a little soggy from heavy rain recently. Greens were nice and soft but subtle breaks were hard to see. Very friendly staff, can't wait to play again.
