Rocky Point Golf Course
About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Better condition today.
I have played here dozens of times, the course was in the best condition that I have seen it in for a while. I still think that the greens fee is too high for the course.
Worst Course ever
Suppose to tee off at 740 and never teed off until 752. We were a 2 and a third was added. The 4 guys that went ahead of us, apparently didn't know what pace of paly was or etiquette about letting faster players play through. Took them about 20 minutes to play the first hole. After we teed off the group behind us hit unto us , we were about 90 yards in from the pin. No apology or anything from them. it took about 20 minutes per hole to play. The course was the worst shape i have ever seen. We left after 6 holes. I will never play there ever again.
Save your money!
$60 bucks?
The course wasnt worth $30
Driving range was in awful condition, course even worse
Tee'd off at 750 and didnt see cart girl til 18th hole on 85 degree day
Fairways- good luck finding real grass to hit out of
Sand craps had so little sand I putted out of the 2 I was in
1 and only time ill play this course
Good enough condition for fun golf
If you’re shooting 80 and above this course is in good enough condition to play fun golf and the greens are improving. Definitely not a perfect course but layout is fun and inexpensive!
Not great conditions
Greens were rough being aerated and certain parts of grass were rough. Overall, wasn't in great shape. I guess for $35 you got it, but have seen this course in better shape in past
Should be a little more transparent about the greens
Greens were punched three days ago. There is a sign at the clubhouse stating that the prices reflect that, however I don’t think $50 for a midweek round on a subpar course is reflective of that at all. There is no worse feeling than booking online and paying good money only to show up at the course and see the greens are all garbage
Skip this course
Not worth the $, even on a “hot-deal”. Extremely congested layout. Terrible tee boxes. Will not be playing again
Decent course
Decent course. Got it on a hot deal glad I didn’t pay full price. Course was decent, pace of play was pretty bad. It was packed and we would get to every tee box and have a long wait to tee off. Greens were awesome but fairways were lacking. Overall it was decent golf course.
Nice layout but terrible greens. Slow and untended!
Pace of Play
I understand that this is a public course, but they need to space these tee times further apart. Saturday I left on the 13th hole because I could not sit in the heat waiting to tee off.
