About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Golfer Reviews
Great Course
Although challenging, it’s a fantastic course to play several times to learn where to land your ball. Hole #5 costs me a stroke EVERY TIME I play!!! Love it!
Fun Course
The course has a nice layout. The fairways could be a little more lush but the greens were more than acceptable.
Some hazards could be a little better marked as this course is deceptively difficult the first time through.
Fun Course
Course is somewhat open so play was pretty fast. Greens are in great shape.
Great city course
Play was a little slow with a single player being put out in front of us. There was a threesome behind us that he should have been put with. Other than that all was good
Not worth what they’re charging
While the pace of play was great, the course itself wasn’t in the best condition. There is no real defined fairway/rough and the greens were ok, not great. Some holes fairways it looked like the grounds crew just gave up trying as there’s a lot of sandy, run down areas near some greens. Conditions caused some frustration on certain holes as a good shot ended up in a crappy part of the fairway.
Overall the cost is not worth this course. There are better options for the same price.
Good Day
The course is a nice layout, no major challenges but enough to be fun. The back 9 can be tricky( don’t try to over power the course 😁😁
This course is god awful!
I would never recommend this course to anyone. I’m embarrassed to say I paid and played. I do not know how they keep people coming. I would call this place a “goat track” or cow pasture.
Nice course for the money
Paid $36 to play here on a Tuesday hot deal. The course was in great shape for that price. Pace was decent. I tee’d off with one other guy and took us about 3 1/2 hours to play. Solid course. Will be back.
Pace was stop and go most of the day. Greens in good shape. Fun layout. Rough and cart paths need some TLC. Staff was very friendly, but even with a starter it was single, threesome, twosome, single, foursome and waiting on most tees. Good value for the money.
