About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Good day
The Greens were in very good shape and most of the fairways are in very good shape also. Some of the tee boxes have sand and fertilizer on them right now so I can’t complain. But overall I would play there anytime. 2 thumbs up
Great Value
Great Muni course. Greens and fairways were very well kept. Would definitely go back considering it was $35 dollars per person including a cart. Food was great and barely any waiting on the tee box.
Last minute round
I needed a round to loosen up before a local
Outing. Staff was friendly and courteous. Got out early. Course was in good shape. Greens a little on the slow side. Played 18 in just over 3 hours. A great value, for a last minute warm up round. Close to the airport hotel and easy to find. I’ll play here again next time I’m in town.
Great public course
Great public course with good maintenance and nice staff.
greens were kept nice, but nothing else. not worth $65.
Fairways in decent shape with thin lies. The tee boxes needed the most TLC. Greens were consistent.
Tee boxes
The course overall is in decent shape with the exception of the tee boxes. Most are nothing but weeds and sand. They are in need of some care to improve the overall rating of this course.
Solid!
Very enjoyable round of golf. Challenging enough for the casual golfer, and fast enough (no waiting) for a 3.5 hour round on a weekday AM.
Open course
Overall the course is in good condition, is an open course which personally I don’t like. I wouldn’t pay more than $35 to play here.
Excellent Greens
Greens were in truly amazing shape. Enjoyed our round immensely. Only knock would be the range as the hitting matts are so firm we were concerned about hitting irons off them due to risk of injury.
Great staff and course; would be happy to play here again.
