If you come to Arizona to play desert golf, forget about Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a refreshing change of pace from most of the Valley's courses precisely because it isn't surrounded by desert.

The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property -- the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch.

The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the

hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.

Played the gold/blue and course was in great shape. No waiting and even a Saturday. Course is in great shape. Well manicured even around the water. Water on every hole but play smart and you’ll be ok. Everything green as can be. Super course!!! Enjoyed it a lot.

Crusing

The course paired us with a couple that were a pleasure to play with on a very well manicured course of above average difficulty. We are older players so we played the white tees at just over 5900 yds. Water holes made it a challenge even at the shorter yardage, along with the rolling fairways. If you're not straight, it will be a frustrating day.

One of our favourites in the valley

Fairways lovely, greens terrific, very smooth. Always a great experience. At $167 for 2 and they charge for range balls? Huge pet peeve for me. Throw it Into the green fees. Place was busy and only 3 people on the range. Tells you something.

This is the fourth time I've played the course. The fairways, rough and greens are in excellent condition. The only negative is the bird poop. Because of the large amount of water on the course there are a considerable number of water fowl. that is my only negative. other than the bird issue the place is beautiful.

Great Course

This is one of my favorite courses in the Phoenix area. The whole course is in great shape (including the rough). The greens are a test but role true. We played the round in 4 hrs 20 minutes.

Ocotillo

The course was in great shape. Fairways, tee boxes and greens were beautiful. Our group got a really good rate here and decided to play. We were not disappointed. Great course. Will play again.

Complete Scam

Made a reservation on Golfnow 12 hours before tee time and called to cancel an hour before do to an emergency. Pro shop employee was very rude and said that I was cutting it too close the the tee time and charged me $172 For a late fee.

Ocotillo Golf Resort

The course is in great condition. The fairways and rough are well manicured with fast and undulating greens.

There is water in play on every hole and every shot has to be well placed to score well.

The pro shop is well stocked and the staff is courteous and helpful. I have no knowledge of any other amenities.

The practice area is overcrowded, but well maintained. The pace of play is very slow with at least one group waiting at each tee box if not two. This makes it very hard to get into and maintain a playing rythym.

I would however recommend that everyone play this course at least once.

I believe the round to be overpriced due to the negative points I have mentioned.

Ocotillo

This is a very nice course and is in great shape. The pace of play was such that we were waiting at every tee box for at least one foursome.

The course is a 27 hole layout with water in play on every hole and sand on many of the same holes guarding the greens. The fairways are narrow, well maintained and the rough is well manicured. The greens are fast and undulating.

The pro shop is well stocked and the staff friendly. I have no knowledge of other facilities. The practice area is small and crowded.

The green fees are in my opinion a little steep, but on par for a resort course. I would recommend anyone try this course at least once.
