About
If you come to Arizona to play desert golf, forget about Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a refreshing change of pace from most of the Valley's courses precisely because it isn't surrounded by desert.
The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property -- the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.

Very nice layout but…..
……they have a major goose/duck issue that looks out of control. Action needed to be taken quite awhile ago as it looks.

Bad Tee Boxes, but Great Course.
The tee boxes are mounded and/or not level at all. You could tell they hadn’t moved the tee box markers from the day before either. Also, just a warning, they make Arnold Palmers with Brisk tea & minute maid lemonade. It was awful LOL. Other than that, the course was in pretty good shape & most of the service was great. The starter (the one with the Gucci bag) is one of the best in the business. Always happy & still gets people started in time.

Facelift needed.
Once a very nice and well-kept golf course community; it is now showing its age and it diminishes the golf experience.

Just look at the picture
Absolutely the worst receding ever been playing here for 20 years. Must be new ownership because they don’t know what they’re doing. Greens suck they don’t wanna honor their ad prices that they send out bartenders a complete clown. What a waste of money look at this picture and they call this receding beer creek does better job

Don’t play it
Hands-down, worst receding ever it’s a complete joke been playing the course for 20+ years lived on the course Arcus member must be new ownership people are not friendly don’t honor the ads on prices that they do and the bartender Jose is a complete clown asked to speak to the manager she wouldn’t even come out so I’m gonna write reviews. Hopefully people don’t pay the ridiculous money if they want to play the course greens are horrible. Receding is horrible. It’s a joke.

Getting better
The course conditions seem to be getting better. ,even though they were over seeding. I’ve golfed this course when it first opened till present . The conditions were A+ until Michelson took over and it went to garbage. So they had a lot of work to do , to get it back to great shape when troon operated it. There is no layout like it in Arizona.. They tend to be overly proud of their course and over price it. But on average it’s worth the round! I get a little carried way with my review because I was part of the building of the course. Thanks

Beautiful setting, young golf assistants were helpful, over priced with the poor conditions however.
