If you come to Arizona to play desert golf, forget about Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a refreshing change of pace from most of the Valley's courses precisely because it isn't surrounded by desert.
The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property -- the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.

Great golf course
Course very well maintained.

Absolutely the worst receding ever been playing here for 20 years. Must be new ownership because they don’t know what they’re doing. Greens suck they don’t wanna honor their ad prices that they send out bartenders a complete clown. What a waste of money look at this picture and they call this receding beer creek does better job

Don’t play it
Hands-down, worst receding ever it’s a complete joke been playing the course for 20+ years lived on the course Arcus member must be new ownership people are not friendly don’t honor the ads on prices that they do and the bartender Jose is a complete clown asked to speak to the manager she wouldn’t even come out so I’m gonna write reviews. Hopefully people don’t pay the ridiculous money if they want to play the course greens are horrible. Receding is horrible. It’s a joke.

Getting better
The course conditions seem to be getting better. ,even though they were over seeding. I’ve golfed this course when it first opened till present . The conditions were A+ until Michelson took over and it went to garbage. So they had a lot of work to do , to get it back to great shape when troon operated it. There is no layout like it in Arizona.. They tend to be overly proud of their course and over price it. But on average it’s worth the round! I get a little carried way with my review because I was part of the building of the course. Thanks

Beautiful setting, young golf assistants were helpful, over priced with the poor conditions however.

Things have changed
This used to be my favorite track. Now, it's just not worth playing. They over book like crazy. It took 3.5 hours to get through 12 holes. We actually walked off at that point. The greens are garbage, covered in goose poop. The sand is unplayable. For just a few dollars more you can play much better tracks, like whirlwind.

Water Water Water
Most people who are valley residents and are golfers know this course has water on majority of the holes. What comes with the water are water fowls such as ducks and geese. These creatures leave their waste behind all over the course , Kinda gross when you have to move your ball to avoid the waste and careful where you step. , the 6 and 7th hole on Oasis course really bad , Sand traps are hard and have rocks in them, and when we played were water logged with puddles of water , There was .no rain to create these puddles . Eairways were green and greens were good . tee boxes were good . We played early morning and fairways were wet from sprinklers .

Tough but fair
Course was in great shape but if I have one complaint it's the traps. They are not filled with sand. It's more like concrete. With the course being so nice I would've expected the bunkers to at least have decent sand in them. We'll definitely play again.

Ranger needed
Course is in great shape! We were a twosome & caught up to a slow playing foursome who would not let us play through. A ranger is needed to keep groups on pace.

Hello old nemesis
I used to play this course every week and after changing jobs had not been there in over 11 years. The course is just as challenging as ever and also still kept in great condition at all times. It was fun getting back there again and I am looking forward to playing it a couple of more times within the next month or so. Would not recommend it for any beginner but for anyone looking for a challenge this is the place. Course management is the name of the game when playing any of the courses at Ocotillo.
