If you come to Arizona to play desert golf, forget about Ocotillo. Ocotillo is a refreshing change of pace from most of the Valley's courses precisely because it isn't surrounded by desert.
The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property -- the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.

Nice course but a couple of disappointments
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the course conditions were good. The fairways were in really good shape, but the greens were inconsistent. Overall, still very nice. The driving range is horrible (I give the range a 1 out of 10), you cannot find a patch of grass. They should move the boxes up or just go back to the mats. While playing we did not see a beverage cart once. August golf in Phoenix with no beverage cart is unacceptable. It was never even mentioned that we'd have no support on the course, or we would have grabbed beverages before teeing off.

Good condition
Overall good condition for being August and hot. Only complaint was we only saw the beverage cart on second hole and again on 18 fairway.

Ocotillo Always Good
I enjoy Ocotillo. We played on a HOT Wednesday so the course was wide open. We played in 2.5 hours. Greens were a tad slow....for being that warm that late in the day. I love the courses at Ocotillo and the staff are always great.

Great greens and fairways and cold water

First time, great course.
All about the course was great. We didnt play the Oasis course (yet) but the other 2 were awesome. The only downside we saw was the lack of a snack/beverage cart.. other than that, we loved the summer rates. Had to play it before the winter rates go up and it is more then we want to pay to play at those higher rates. Would recommend to anyone that is looking for a nice course to play. The greens are slower than we were used to, but well kept. .

Great course but,.......
This course is beautiful and in great condition except for greens. The greens are nice but they are the slowest greens in valley. Ridiculously slow and it has been this way for years. I tried the course again after several years and nothing has changed. You can see all the fuzz on the greens and you have to hammer every putt. It's a shame they can't seem to get this right.

no range
Just a quick note — it would’ve been helpful to know the summer range hours ahead of time. I had an early tee time booked and wasn’t aware the range doesn’t open until 8 AM. Showing up and not being able to warm up was a bit frustrating.

Better than expected
Read of couple of recent reviews that said how bad the greens were, and almost cancelled my tee time because of them, but I’m glad I’d didn’t. Course conditions are just fine! Yeah the greens are transitioning but they roll just fine and they’re very receptive. Fairways are good, tees are good, and for about the $55 we paid I'm more than pleased. Course layout is just so different from all the others around. Actually forgot I was in Arizona for a little bit. All in all, fun day and good course.
