About
The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.
Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

Tough but fair
Course was in great shape but if I have one complaint it's the traps. They are not filled with sand. It's more like concrete. With the course being so nice I would've expected the bunkers to at least have decent sand in them. We'll definitely play again.

Ranger needed
Course is in great shape! We were a twosome & caught up to a slow playing foursome who would not let us play through. A ranger is needed to keep groups on pace.

Hello old nemesis
I used to play this course every week and after changing jobs had not been there in over 11 years. The course is just as challenging as ever and also still kept in great condition at all times. It was fun getting back there again and I am looking forward to playing it a couple of more times within the next month or so. Would not recommend it for any beginner but for anyone looking for a challenge this is the place. Course management is the name of the game when playing any of the courses at Ocotillo.

Terrible condition!!
I’ve been playing this course since it opened. It use to be one of the best in the valley. Current condition’s are unbelievably bad, there is more dirt/mud in the fairways than grass & are extremely wet! The fairways literally are not even playable. The greens are in decent shape, but shaggy & extremely slow. They did have beverage carts running, but men were driving them. Ocotillo management, you are losing A LOT of money with this current setup. The man who checked us in said the reason for the course condition was due to salt. Not buying that, no other course I’ve played in the last couple months look like this. This course is so bad, they probably shouldn’t even be open. For $97.00 it’s an absolute joke.

The maintenance team is working hard every day to make course corrections and are utilizing multiple strategies including gypsum, wetting agents, other nutrients and chicken manure to combat the excessive salt content in both the soil and water supply. Tough Course, Poor Conditions
Major complaint is fairways, bare but somewhat moist not dry. Difficult to find a patch of grass. Interestingly enough, the grass opposite the golf cart path was greener and more golf-able than the fairway. Lots of water, with no fairway grass the ball just rolls - many times into water. Challenging but fair course when in good shape but it wasn't yesterday. Greens were very good. Staff was friendly.

Not worth the money
Don't waste your money right now here. They are charging way too much for what you are getting with this course. There is no grass in the landing areas after your tee shot. There is NO grass around the greens at all The landing areas are mud and areas around the greens are bare. Course is almost not playable. They have lost the fairways for sure. The front of house staff is always great, but they sure aren't giving you any fair warning about what is about to greet you once you tee off. They will gladly take your $85 and let you play an unplayable golf course right now. Greens roll okay, but slow which is kind of normal. The grass will come back. Maybe not till overseed, but it will return. Just DON'T play this course right now. Or for the next few weeks. It is AWFUL right now.

Horrible shape
I have played this course many times over the years and didn’t mind paying a little more than others. However, this is the worse shape I have experienced with course; especially for the money.

Rented clubs and no drink cart
Club rental was 70 dollars for clubs that are 4 years old. Would definitely expect newer clubs for the price. The rental did come with a glove and 2 sleeves of balls.
The clubs were Callaway mavrick from 2020.
The overall course was nice, it was over 110 degrees and no beverage cart. You need to get drinks at bar prior to tee time.

Not impressed
I have played this course several times in the past. This was the worst condition I have witnessed.
Several tee boxes were wet, lacked grass and had multiple divots. Lots of fairways were saturated with water and not manicured very well. Greens were shaggy and very slow.
Not worth the $105 price tag and 4 1/2 hour pace of play.

Soggy course
Course was really soggy and muddy. Tee boxes were soaked and some you couldn’t hit from. Standing water on cart path areas and muddy clay.
