About
The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.
Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

Poor grass condition
We have played this course in the past and we’re impressed with green, lush fairways. When we played lately there were a lot of bare patches on fairways with divots everywhere. Also., the greens were sanded and we weren’t told of this prior to play which would have changed our minds to play.
Right now the course is not worth the price.
It does have beautiful scenery
Excellent experience and played with two great guys.
Pace of play
It would of been nice to have a ranger drive around course, group in front of us had two holes open in front of us and would not let us play through. So of course the group behind us was on are toes the whole round.
Nice traditional layout course
Traditional layout surrounded by water so bring plenty of balls because they may land on the fairway but the slope funnels them to the drink. Fairways, greens are in good shape with a few dried up spots scattered on the course. Tee boxes are in good-ok shape as well with only a few that are beat up and need some TLC. The bunkers were ok as some were hard pan and some had enough sand to not be afraid of flying it over the green and into the water. The layout is fun and keeps you focused on avoiding the water.
Overall for the greens fee it’s a great course that will challenge the mid and high handicap player.
A marshal out on the course would of been helpful, sense the group in front of us had two free holes in front of them and wouldn’t let us play through.
Shame the Marshall didn’t pick pace of play up for everyone
Great fun course but the Marshall needs to call out slow play. 5 hours for a round is too long. We told him at the end of the round why he didn’t say anything to them when we complained. He said he just had noticed they took long. Really! You realized it at the end of 5 hours. Lol Great course and other staff besides that. Pro shop is always so friendly.
One of the best courses I’ve played.
The staff were good and friendly. The course was in great shape greens a little slow. Over all the play was fantastic and the course beautiful.
Must Play
Friendly staff all around. Greens in good shape. Excellent conditions overall. Nice picturesque holes on the Gold/blue courses. I went out as a twosome and finished in 2.57. Best time to play early morning.
