Ocotillo Golf Club - Gold/Blue
About
The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.
Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

Ok
Nice course except there is bird poop everywhere on shoes clubs golfball and it’s smelly ugh
Tournament focused
Ran into a slow tournament on the front 9...They figured it was our responsibility to play the back faster to make up for the slow front 9.☹ Marshall kept telling us he needed people off the gold course by 1.30 for another tournament...Did he really need to push so hard on the 17th hole...? Would give it a pass next time..
Ocotillo hacking
Course in really good shape. Greens hard and fast and undulating. Lots of water which comes in play on several holes. Paired with a two young men who were great to play with. Love to have several beers while I play but the exorbitant price for beverages did not allow me to partake
Solid!
Course was in good shape. Very few bad or thin spots. Wall to wall green grass was so refreshing. Well done Ocotillo, well done! Best course on our trip.
Overwatered
While the course was in good condition, the complete over seeding of the terrain including the rough, it slowed the round down and forced almost a lift, clean and replace approach despite being in the middle of the fairway. There was an unusual amount of moisture on the course given there has been little rain in the area. The aprons around the green were not properly cut to an appropriate length.
Because of the early start to our round, countless course maintenance people were working on the course but rarely provided the courtesy and consideration for the golfers to take their shots.
Get it together Ocotillo
I have played here many times before and will continue but today was just not there day . Very unorganized start. Groups running into each other as you were making the turns . We started between two groups that finished there front nine .
The overall condition was very good, would be nice if there were gps on the cart, would help for distances to targets and the water.
A Stern Test
I always enjoy playing Ocotillo. Make sure you have enough balls in your bag because there is plenty of water out there. Florida meets the desert on this challenging layout. The only surprise of the day was that they let us start at our scheduled time despite the ground being quite frosty as the temperature was in the mid 30’s. I hope we didn’t do any damage with our foot prints
Challenging fun course for the dollar
Nice course with three nine hole layouts. Greens are rolling nicely, fairways in very good shape. Fairly wide fairways, but water does come into play on many holes. Great staff and nice patio bar to catch a cold one after the round, and pace of play for us was 4 hours. Only negative is some holes have alot of bird poop due to many geese, ducks, pigeons who are attracted to the water there.
Beautiful water features excellent layout
Ocotillo is such a great value for the money - the staff is great all three nines offer a challenging yet fair test of golf with beautiful views and picturesque hole layouts.
For the price you can’t beat it in the Phoenix area in the winter.
I look forward to playing it all winter and summer as the combination of the 3 nines gives you a new “look” each time I play.
Great track highly Reccomended!
Premium value
Played Ocotillo for the second time today and despite a lengthy frost delay, we still got it around the links in good time. I would say today the course was very moist (mother nature’s doing)but think the fairways, especially close to the green structures were cut a bit too tight. Well worth the trip south to chandler
Wonderful day
The course is in excellent condition ! Pace of play was delightful and if you like water and beautiful conditions then this is the course for you!
Good course layout, fairway is well maintained, greens a little slow. Nice to play in a very green course in the desert area.
Ball marks!
Classy place, players treated very well range balls should be included, putting green excellent, practice range fake grass, must have yardage book for holes with water in play off tee. A zillion unrepaired ball marks on greens thanks to discourteous players.
Lots of water
If you play here, hit them straight or bring lots of balls. There is water on almost every hole and a lot of it cant be seen from where you are shooting . Leave the retriever at home because once in the water, it’s gone for good. Greens are fast and undulating. Tee boxes need work as they are often not level and some short holes they are in tough shape. Not worth the money unless you get a hot deal.
It's like $30 in the afternoon...
