Ocotillo Golf Club - Gold/Blue
About
The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.
Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

Save your money
Greens are absolutely trash. Slow and bumpy that don’t hold their line, for a course in AZ this time of year they should be near prime.
Wasn’t worth the $60 we paid. Way better courses for your money in the valley.
April green fees reasonable ; course in great shape
We played the blue./ white course. The blue course has lots of water that winds through the course and homes. Very pretty, lots of flowers. This was our first time playing Ocotillo and we should have explored the water hazards more. On a few holes we couldn’t see that the water cut across the entire fairway. We played as a twosome and had to wait on most holes, however we did play in 4 hours.
Tee time was accurate restarting.
36C/96F - HOT! The course thankfully had a bit of shade on most holes. Restaurant had tables as well as comfortable arm chairs.
Lots of beautiful azure water!
Great bank for the buck! Lots and lots of water! All aspects in great condition. I gokfed the Blue and White course combo. I'll be back to try the gold!
White-Gold April 8, 2019
Course in decent shape. Greens seemed a little over-watered. Paired with a cery pokey twosome but still finished in 4 hours. Bathroom on Gold need better marking because it’s hidden in the bushes and you can’t see it from 6 tee.
This course has lots of water and a great layout
The course has water on 14 of the 18 holes we played. As a 7 hdp player the water doesn’t play much into my game if you watch your distances and layup / play smart golf. As a high handicap player others in our group struggled a bit. The course is in great shape and fun to play
Good Day
Course was in excellent shape. Pace of play under 4 hours today. Would recommend playing
Absolutely amazing
Loved this course and whole experience! Beautiful layout, use of water, and course upkeep! Pace of play on a Sunday was under 4 hours ! Great clubhouse amenities and relaxed atmosphere , would play here anytime
Just Okay
Course is in good shape except for the greens. Not sure what’s up with them because usually are in great shape. Right now have some brown spots and are bumpy.
Poor Green conditions
The greens had to be among the worst I've ever experienced. Dirt in areas; browned and lumpy in other areas. This greens were so disappointing. Green fees are way overpriced considering the condition of the greens. There are many, many other courses that offer a better experience than this. Save your money and play elsewhere. The greens are only going to get worse, if that is possible, as warm weather takes hold here in AZ.
Oasis in Chandler
I play Ocotillo every time I come to Phoenix. An oasis in Chandler. The course is beautifully landscaped with flowers and water (water on 90% of the holes). 27 holes, with each 9 presenting its own challenges (especially hole 9 on the White course). I love this course and would recommend it to every golfer. But bring plenty of balls.
First bad experience
I have golfed here before and never had a complaint but this time the pace was so slow it took us over 5hrs to play
Slow play
The pace of play was extremely slow, 5 plus hours. It seemed to be very much overbooked. Also with not being familiar with the course, there was no info readily available as to the distance to water hazards etc.
Good day at Ocotillo
We've Played this course multiple times and I will say, the it remains to be seen, needs a lot of work to say the least! The greens are OK, they need a lot of work as well. They keep saying it’s due to the cold winter weather, but I’m not so sure about that! Pace of play was good.
Monday
Signed up as a single. Joined 3 great people. Very slow group in front of us. Too much golf course for their ability. Other than that, most enjoyable.
Great value
Lots of water and great layout. Very fair course with challenging holes.
