Ocotillo Golf Club - Gold/Blue
About
The Ocotillo Golf Resort sits on 185 acres and features lush contoured fairways that flow gently amid patches of mature trees, vibrant flower beds, pretty waterfalls and numerous lakes.
The Gold nine is a devilish test and not just because water comes into play on six of the holes. The greens have a lot of slope in them and are difficult to read. And some pin placements are brutal; hit a downhill putt two feet past the
hole, and it might roll down into a swale and 30 feet by. Uphill putts, on the other hand, are extremely difficult to get to the hole, if for no other reason than Ocotillo's greens aren't as fast as some of the Valley's marquee desert courses.
Two holes stand out on the Gold: No. 5 is a 212-yard par 3 with water running down the entire left side; and No. 9 is a 468-yard par 4 with a carry over water from the tee -- water that dissects the fairway about 50 yards short of the green and water left to the green. Par there is a great score.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?

SURF & TURF
Or should I say surf & sand. Lots of both. Everyone loses balls in the many water holes. A beautiful course with varied layouts. Great scenery, nice homes and ducks gone wild! A challenging course for anyone. Every shot becomes more important than the last one. Worth the trip and greens fees.
Overall a good experience
Nice challenging classic layout with plenty of water.. Fairways and rough are in superior shape. The tee boxes have far too much crowning, they need to be leveled out and bunkers need fresh sand. The clubhouse is excellent and overall a really good experience.
There’s good and bad on the Blue/White at Ocotillo
The courses fairways were much improved since December. 2018. However the tee boxes definitely need ALOT of work!!! It’s also evident that the greens were partially damaged by the rainfall and then the hard freezes. They are playable but the course cannot keep up with the amount of people that golf this course on a daily basis. It’s very busy!
Great course!
Yes there is water, but it won’t penalize you if you just plan your shots. Great layout, great conditions, friendly staff, definitely going to play this again. Don’t think twice, book a round.
Great shape
The course is in amazing shape. There is water on 24 of the 27 holes. Believe me you are thankful to play those 3 holes on the White course. The fairways are like a finely trim carpet and the green carry a decent amount of speed. The only negative is that it seems they didn’t do anything with the bunkers. They were as hard as anything I’ve played.
Nice Course Slow Play
We always enjoy playing Ocotillo however the pace of play was brutal! 5 hours. Waited every shot from the first tee. No Marshall’s. I suspect they don’t have sufficient time between tee times and just put as many people out as they can.
Great layout.
Very enjoyable course to play. Makes you think about your shot selection. Many scenic water holes and interesting greens.
OCTOTILLO GOLF CLUB
WE PLAYED THE BLUE-WHITE HOLES. THE CONDITIONS WERE PERFECT EXCEPT THE GREENS WERE VERY FIRM AND FAST. ONE OF MY FAVORITE COURSES IN THE PHOENIX AREA.
Good layout, fast greens, bunkers were a little scuffed due to recent weather. I would come back.
Absolutely amazing
Hundreds of courses in the area and this continues to be my first choice because of staff pace of play and overall condition
Challenging
Pace of play pretty slow, multiple divots on the greens. Fairways very nice but several roped off from carts. Course very beautiful and challenging, will try it again..
Too much Geese and other poo!
Nice layout and decent golf course, but would never recommend because of the bird .... every where!
Didn’t play yet
Called in yesterday and changed the date to Feb 14 as I had erred upon booking the wrong day. Staff were kind enough to change the date and tee time
