About
Ocotillo is a one-of-a-kind golf spot in a state full of top golf spots, and the four-star golf course is suitable for both golf upstarts and old-timers.
Ocotillo's Blue Course is a watery grave; water comes into play on eight of the nine holes. It's not overly long but there's so much water the length becomes irrelevant. The best hole may be No. 1, a 590-yard par 5. Big hitters are faced with the classic risk-reward: Do they lay-up on their second shot or try to fly a tributary that splits the fairway about 50 yards short of the green?
The White Course is the most unique of the three. It has only one par 5, and the water is a factor on just five of the holes. But it also has the best hole on the property -- the 479-yard, par-4 ninth, which used to be an easy par 5 but is now a treacherous finishing touch.

Conditions did not meet the expectations
I’ve enjoyed playing here in the past, but will pass on this course until either the cost comes down or conditions greatly improve. Tee box positions were overused which left them in poor shape. The bunkers need more sand in the worst way, it was like hitting off hard-pan most of the time. Many greens were in need of extra care (seeding in bare areas).

Fun but tough
We enjoy it but take a lot of balls. The fairways and greens all slope to the water.

horribly slow. no rangers
Got our money. then charged for range balls and that's the end of it. too bad just a beautiful couse has fallen into just poor mismanagement after the 30 years I've played it when in town

Im from illinois and play there almost every year for 25 years. since ARCIS took it over it has got more expensive with less satisfaction. No rangers and pace of play is atrocious. waited 10 minutes for every shot. Just played 4 rounds there in February. Took friends there. Not great experience because of it. This was not just one of the rounds but every single one and ten dollars for range balls on top of a 120 dollar round is a bit of stretch and really not the money but a big don't care if your here or not. old days are over for this track. Was one of our favorites

Fun day!
We came from Nebraska where the temperature is below zero. Loved being outside in the warm sun. There’s a lot of water on the course and we found quite a bit. I would prefer GPS on the carts to you can gauge the distance to the water hazards better. Other than that is was great fun.

Rude staff
We arrived as the first tee time 7:12, as we arrived the pro shop did not open until 7:05, the pro shop staff was rude as he saw us waiting outside 10 minutes before our tee time and did not open up until he wanted to, he proceeded to unlock the door and not acknowledge us 5 feet away from the door. As soon as we paid we went to the range to hit golf balls, as there were none, the worker there didn’t acknowledge us as well until we approached them and told us we had to pay for range balls. This was not information provided at the pro shop as they didn’t ask if we wanted range balls. I went back into the proshop to see how much range balls were, and was not talked to in a friendly manner whatsoever. Overall the course was nice, but the customer service was the worst I’ve ever seen. We paid good money, as we have been there 4/5 times, and will never come back. The course is great and with the right workers is one of my favorites. Unfortunately felt as I threw away my money as a Phoenix native that golfs multiple times a week.

One exception
As far as staff friendliness, one employee at check-in was rude. First time here and she expected us to know where everything was and when asked a question, gave us a look of what are you stupid.

Slow sat
Course was in good shape and staff was fine. Only complaint was pace of play. Waited a lot , took 4:45 to play . I know its a busy time of year but when you are spending $175 per round with the range , it would be nice to see a marshal to keep pace moving along.
